[edit] Re: Vandalism

While it is not against policy to remove warnings for your user talk page, it is generally frowned upon, especially when there are numerous recent warnings regarding contentious from multiple editors. This is especially true if you are not logged in, as editors who are trying to establish patterns of vandalism and abuse from IPs may refer to this page for reference. Caknuck 02:43, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Bear in mind that you do not need to be an admin to issue a user warning. In fact the system is set up so that regular editors warn users deemed to be disruptive, and if the contentious behavior does not stop, then the user is referred to WP:3RR, WP:AIV or other noticeboards as necessary. As it stands, consensus on Talk:List of people from Ridgefield, Connecticut is for keeping the text in the article. Considering that, as well as the section's being the subject of a current RFC, I would strongly urge you not to revert the text again. If you have any other questions, feel free to get back to me. Thanks, Caknuck 03:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
I was the one who requested the protection be put in place, at least until a firm consensus can be achieved. As far as ignoring warnings until an admin issues them, the problem is that once it gets that far, it usually results in a block and not a warning. I'm just doing my best to avoid that from happening. Cheers, Caknuck 03:15, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your Harassment and Talk Page Blankings

you cannot behave the way you do and blank out warnings and discussions as you do blindly. admins are watching and are noticing your behavior. BaseballDetective 03:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I am doing some housekeeping and removing idle threats ("you will be blocked from editing", "This is your last warning, etc.) and discussions that do not lead anywhere. I am leaving any discussions, warnings and comments that are pertinent to my talk page. Thank you for yet again reminding me that administrators are watching, it may be the 15th time you have mentioned this but that's okay since I forget quickly. —03:44, 21 May 2007 69.118.129.76
I would also like to note that, in the span of slightly over twenty minutes, BaseballDetective somehow managed to ask 6 other users for help dealing with my comments. The user has conspicuously refrained from explaining exactly how I am "harassing and trolling" yet has no qualms with recruiting a figurative lynch mob in an attempt to refute my edits. Surely someone else finds this humorous. —04:15, 21 May 2007 69.118.129.76
after nearly two weeks of your harassment you should not be shocked. and if I am crying wolf, i'll be the one 'lynched' as you say. good luck to you and please register an account at least before engaging in this kind of hateful behavior. fyi, even when you blank talk page comments the history is still there. you cannot wash your behavior away. —BaseballDetective 04:24, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Your dispute with BaseballDetective

Anon user, at this point I'd suggest you and the anon user open a case at WP:RFM. That may be the only way to resolve this. Caknuck 05:09, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I was notified by BaseballDetective about that, and I would like to comment as an uninvolved party. Yes, it is fine to remove unimportant/incorrect notices from your talk page, however it is not advised to do so if they were left regarding a dispute - you are free to continue this, however if a mediation or arbitration case is filed against you this may be to your loss. I would agree with the user above, try WP:RFM. It will most likely sort out your problem, without risking that you get banned. If you have any more queries, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks! [edit] June 2007

Please respect community consensus that states that the section on people NOT from Ridgefield, Connecticut deserves a place on the page. If you would like to get an opinion on whether such sections are appropriate in general, let alone in this particular article, WP:RFC is a great place to start. Also, since I know you're trying to make this change out of a good-faith interest in improving the encyclopedia:

Thank you for your recent constructive additions to Wikipedia. The IP address from which you contributed appears to be shared, and you may find yourself blocked or disrupted from editing Wikipedia due to administrator intervention against vandals who share your IP address. I would strongly encourage you to create a user account so that you may continue to contribute even in the event of a softblock. Thank you again for your support of the project! [edit] WP:3RR Warning

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 00:00, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Further note to user: The best way to get your point across is not by reverting, and the only reason I have not blocked you is due to the fact that this is the first warning about the 3RR rule. Continue with your editing pattern as per your contribution list and your editing privileges will be temporarily removed, starting with 24 hrs for the first instance, and extending blocks up to six months if you persist. Much better than that would be that you pursue dispute resolution if you are unable to find common ground with fellow editors on these articles. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 00:11, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Upon further review of your edit history I can see that you are familiar with the 3RR rule already:
You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule . Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.
