Vandalism what? Find me reliable sources stating he played competitive first team matches for Modena. I doubt you might find any. In any case, that section is for players who achieved some notability during their stay at the club. --Angelo 14:29, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Two reliable sources are cited in the edit that you keep reverting without any explanation. 68.45.106.216 14:42, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Also, if you believe that "notable" is in the context of their performance with the club and not future fame, the information should be moved to a separate part of the article, not removed entirely. It is obviously notable and encyclopedic that a person so famous once played for the club. Modena FC has a tribute to Pavarotti on the main page of the club's website as we speak. In any event, it is out of line to remove cited information without as much as an explanation. The rules of Wikipedia make this clear. 68.45.106.216 14:46, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
It's however pretty curious that the same Modena website does not cite at all his alleged football past, as well as all football sources I have right now in front of my eyes. Maybe your "reliable" sources are not so reliable, because they're just wrong (all I could find is he originally pursued a football career in his childhood years). Again, find me a very reliable source stating he was part of Modena's first team squad and I'll put him back, not just a trivia section in a minor website. And please avoid leaving attack messages on my talkpage (consider this as an official warning). --Angelo 14:58, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
First, the Telegraph is not a "minor website," it is one of the most well known UK news websites. Your claim that a well known news website is "just wrong" because you, a random Wikipedia editor, knows it to be wrong is laughable indeed. If you can produce some sort of news source that says he did not play for Modena FC, fine, but as I have already produced a reliable source, the burden of proof is on you to prove that it's incorrect. "It's untrue because I say so" does not count as proof. Second, I have left absolutely nothing that remotely resembles a "personal attack" on your talk page. The only comment I made on your talk page was the template politely asking you to stop removing content from the Modena FC page. You removed that content without any explanation whatsoever and Wikipedia is clear that the removal of content must include an explanation. 68.45.106.216 15:25, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
For anyone curious, this is the exact comment I left on this user's talk page: "Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from Modena_F.C.. Please be careful when editing pages and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you." The fact that the above user considered this a "personal attack" *when it's a default Wikipedia template* should be pretty clear evidence that he lacks credibility, let alone his claim that the telegraph.co.uk is a "minor website." 68.45.106.216 15:29, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Do you want to keep on being so friendly with me? Your source says just he played for Modena, but does not say when he did so (when he was 19, he was already a school teacher, and started as a singer at the age of 26). Modena FC website's history page does not cite him at all[1] (strange, isn't it?), and a former schoolmate of him states in an interview he attempted to pursue a playing career as a goalkeeper with Lepanto (the school team) [2]. To me it's fair enough to say the Telegraph just made it wrong. He trained as a footballer, but never played for Modena FC, who was playing Serie B at the time. --Angelo 15:34, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
I have no idea why you are implying that I have not been friendly. You reverted the content without any sort of explanation, so I used the template which politely says "Please don't remove content without an explanation in the edit summary." It's a standard Wikipedia template and I have no idea why you would interpret this as a "personal attack" such that you felt the need to make an "official warning." My original edit included a second link to one of his obituaries which also mentions that he played for Modena FC, so in order to believe that the Telegraph is wrong, we must also believe that this second obituary source is wrong as well. Unfortunately I only know a handful of Italian words so I am limited to the English language sources that I've presented. 68.45.106.216 16:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
