They saw action at the Battle of Fort St-Jean, Battle of Trois-Rivières, Battle of Quebec (1775), Fort Stanwix and the Battle of Rhode Island. The 1st Canadian Regiment of James Livingston was composed of French-Canadians, Acadian and American colonists living in Quebec. It fought with Benedict Arnold at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. This crucial victory by the Americans led to a full French alliance with the Americans four months later in February 1778. Until this point, France only provided funds.
