From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please stop turning so many words into Wikilinks. There is no point in linking a person's name in an article about that person, as the link won't go anywhere. You have also been linking simple words, like "eighty", and people's nicknames. You're making a real mess. I recommend that you take a look at the Manual of Style, and I'd advise you very strongly to read the section on links. Thanks. — Trilobite (Talk) 17:27, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

Please stop linking to things and read the Manual of Style! Proteus (Talk) 17:22, 20 May 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for the information that you added to John Mills. You created too many wiki links in this article. I see that other people have explained the principles to you. I have taken out the more egregious. Also, you do not need to change the day/month sequence within date links; date formats are handled in user preferences. You may wish to go to Special:preferences to set your own date preference. --Theo (Talk) 14:39, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

It would appear this user is still unfamiliar with Wikipedia style as I have had to revert a number of his/her edits because of excessive linking. 23skidoo 18:41, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

This user is still going crazy with the links. In list of Bank of England Governors he or she decided to update a bunch of entries to links including 'Sir', actually breaking some existing links in the process. In the user's latest exploit, they've actually Wiki-linked 'Sir' about ten times! It's very odd. Glancing at other contributions, there seems to be a pattern of unnecessary links, duplicated links, and broken links. I'm not sure what can be done to encourage this user to improve their edit style. He or she is very active, usually during the hours of 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. The IP address appears to resolve to a firm called http://www.barkad.co.uk . Crosbiesmith 18:32, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

To the user at this address - I don't get the impression you ever read this page. However, if you do, then 1) please stop linking 'Sir', it's quite unnecessary, especially when you do it multiple times in a single article and 2) please use the 'Preview' button, instead of doing 13 tiny edits every time, and please also leave a comment on your edits Crosbiesmith 18:48, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stanley Lewis

I have placed a tag on the article Stanley Lewis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. I did this because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person but it does not indicate how or why that person is notable. If the person really is notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly to indicate why, and also put a note on Talk:Stanley Lewis. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. DES (talk) 18:19, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Cricketer names

Please stop changing cricketers' names to initials. We have an established style for the cricketer infoboxes. If you think it should be changed, please seek a consensus at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cricket first.

[edit] Philip Bailey

Could you write an article about Philip_Bailey (statistician) too, please ? Tintin 12:46, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

I have changed the category 'Statisticians' in the pages of the statisticians to 'Cricket historians and writers'. The former is for mathematicians. There is no categories for cricket statisticians alone, so as of now, they are put under cricket historians. Tintin 23:20, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Jonny Dixon. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. MarkS (talk) 13:23, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] September 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added to the page Social marketing do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Versageek 13:37, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

[edit] David Norman

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article David Norman, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of David Norman.
