[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Dear 1-54-24: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! Mike 7 04:24, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Link spam

I spent the last 7 years working on my website, doing research and posting articles. I moderated three message boards and posted one article after the other and shared them with everybody when there was no Robotech.com and information was scarce. I'm not a kid you know. Now, some people claim them their own or common knowledge since the board went down and i postponed the site for personal projects. I'm not gonna accept that. I'll restore every single link I can prove that contains some of my source material, you can debate them all if you want. They've been online for 7 years and were seen by thousands of people. If they are not somewhere else besides my computer, I won't, simply as that. It's not my intention to get into an endless argument. By the way, my site has 138 pages of pure and accurate information, do you consider a link to them spam? Have you seen them all? Have you noticed I always included source references and gave proper credits? Were they useless in comparison to the other links posted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gishdukat (talkcontribs) 04:16, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

02:55, 10 July 2006 You added a self-promoting link to Category:Macross characters, when external link lists don't belong in Category pages.
02:55, 10 July 2006 You added a self-promoting link to Category:Robotech characters, when external link lists don't belong in Category pages.
02:51, 10 July 2006 You deleted two source listings for Lisa Hayes from an official website in order to add a self-promoting link.
02:45, 10 July 2006 You added a self-promoting link to The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross when the site in question doesn't have a page about the topic.
Please refer to Wikipedia:Spam. Spam can be links to your own private website, which you have just acknowledged as such. Wikipedia is not a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. Wikipedia discourages bare links as opposed to contributed cited text, and discourages adding the same link to many articles. Please read Wikipedia's Welcome and policies before contributing. 1-54-24 11:32, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Good catch!

Good catch on the Golg Bodolza/Boddole Zer spelling changes in the The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Boddole Zer, and Dolza articles! Not only did you quickly catch the changes (across multiple user names no less!), but you were also very polite about it. Kudos to you, sir! --Kralizec! (talk) 21:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Release dates

Hi there. Given our disagreement over the Robotech article, I would appreciate your input on a discussion of limited/wide release dates over here. Esn 09:53, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lagrange points

I know nothing at all about Robotech, but I just want to say that I loved your clarifying comment (assuming it's accurate) on the Lagrange points article. :)

[edit] AfD nomination of Unseen character

An editor has nominated Unseen character, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Unseen character (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:00, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
