Die National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, auch NAACP genannt, ist eine der ältesten und einflussreichsten Bürgerrechtsorganisationen der USA. Sie ging aus dem 1905 gegründeten Niagara Movement hervor und wurde 1909 begründet, um zugunsten der afro-amerikanischen Bevölkerung zu arbeiten.
Die NAACP wurde am 12. Februar 1909 von William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, Ida Wells-Barnett, Henry Moscowitz, Mary White Ovington, Oswald Garrison Villard und William English Walling gegründet.
