Das King’s College London ist mit 21.300 Studenten (2003-2004) das größte und älteste College der Universität London. Es wurde 1829 gegründet und erhielt seinen Namen nach der Schirmherrschaft König Georgs IV.
Die Zeitung The Guardian bescheinigte in einem Artikel im August 2005 dem King’s College London einen international sehr guten Ruf, welcher nur von Oxford und Cambridge übertroffen wird. Gemäß The Times Higher Education Supplement belegte die Universität 2007 im jährlich erscheinenden Hochschulranking den 24. Platz auf der Welt.

King’s College wurde in der Nähe des Somerset House in Strand (London) gegründet, der Campus ist heute noch in Gebrauch und um das ursprüngliche Gebäude herum aufgebaut. Die Universität ist seitdem um mehrere Campus gewachsen, so Guy’s campus nahe London Bridge; St. Thomas’ campus gegenüber der Houses of Parliament; Waterloo Campus; Hampstead Halls Campus, und Denmark Hill Campus im Süden Londons.
