Mac OS X 10.5, tzv. Leopard je najavljena na Apple-ovoj svjetskoj konferenciji za programere (en. Worldwide Developers Conference) 6. juna 2005 i planirano prvo prikazivanje je na konferenciji u augustu 2006. Očekuje se da će ova verzija biti izdata javnosti krajem 2006. ili početkom 2007. godine, u približno isto vrijeme kad treba da izađe i Microsoft Windows Vista. Apple je izjavio da će ova verzija podržavati PowerPC i Intel x86 Mac-računare.

5. aprila 2006 Apple je objavio applikaciju pod nazivom Boot Camp, koja dozvoljava korisnicima da instaliraju Mac OS X i Microsoft Windows operativne sisteme. Leopard distribucija će imati ovu aplikaciju.

Or Initiate Screen Sharing and take control of a friend or colleague’s display.
