Talk:Shanghai International Circuit

I corrected the coordinates of the circuit. The coordinates given are for the start/finish line, taken from Google Earth, using an overlay photo.--Ciroa 22:24, 18 September 2006 (UTC)--
According to this architecture article: http://www.hunterdouglascontract.com/referenceprojects/article.jsp?pId=p10301 The architects Hermann Tilke and Peter Wahl intentionally designed the track to look like the Chinese character. I was also at the race this year (Sep29-Oct1) and all the locals said it was designed intentionally.Jonlin 16:59, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Circuit Looking like the Chinese character Shang
I maintain a home quite near the track, and the local word (as well as some officials who work at the track) is that the circuit was designed to look like the character "Shang". Online F1 news magazines also back this fact up.
I have changed the info on the page to reflect this.
I knew there was something fishy going on here. The layout looks WAY to similar to the character. I didn't believe it was a coincidence from the start! Thanks for your feedback! 64.180.7.63 (talk) 08:16, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Aelange

[edit] Track age
I've just changed the phrase "Brand New motor racing venue" in the beginning of the article to "Chinese motor racing venue" to bring the article more up-to-date. The circuit hosted its first Grand Prix in 2004, and that was four years ago, so the track is not necessarily "brand new" anymore. Stealthman (talk) 13:00, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
