Sam Fatu (born October 11, 1965) is a professional wrestler best known under the name of The Tonga Kid. He was also known as Tama, as which he teamed with partner Haku as The Islanders, and as Samoan Savage, as which he teamed with his brother Solofa Fatu as the The Samoan Swat Team (he was later replaced by Samula Anoai).
Sam Fatu would go on to work with Solofa Fatu (Formly Rikishi in WWE ) in his promotion Nu-Wrestling Evolution.
Another brother is Umaga (Eddie Fatu).
When he was younger he dreamed of being a baseball player, but around the age of 15 he changed his mind as he watched relatives and friends who were involved in professional wrestling. He started working at a local zoo to help him become better at speaking English. He got into the wrestling business around 1984 and remained active until 1992. He then opened up a bar in West Philadelphia.
Sam Fatu starred as "Tonga Tom" in the 1987 movie "Body Slam", along with Dirk Benedict and Roddy Piper. He also had a cameo appearance in the 1985 film Highlander.
2007
Sam is once again wrestling as "The Tonga Kid" most recently appearing in the Portland, Oregon region. Working with CPW Wrestling and feuding with local talent Tom E. Celcious. His next scheduled appearance will be on May 26th at the Portland, OR. Rock & Roll Pizza event, which his brother "Rikishi" will be appearing at as well.
