- On May 28, 1923, a baby girl was born in Salisbury with six fully developed toes on each foot. [1]
- On November 4, 2004, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was arrested in Salisbury for driving under the influence and underage drinking
- In the late 1930s working class blacks and whites dined together at a downtown coffee shop named "English Grill". This was progressive even for border state. Racial segregation continued in the rest of the South well into the late 1950s/early 1960s, where "separate but equal" was standard practice.
