Like Wikipedia, Nupedia was a website with encyclopedia pages. Jimbo Wales made it in 2000. Larry Sanger was its co-maker.
Unlike Wikipedia, only the people who worked on it could change the articles, and all of the changes went through review. This made it harder to make articles, and soon became over looked by Jimbo Wales's new project, Wikipedia which created more interest.
Twenty-four articles made it through the Nupedia system, with another seventy-four ready to be made, before the site was let go of in September 2003.
