Michael Andrew Bridge Morpurgo is a famous Children's book writer in England.

He was born in 1943, he attended schools in Sussex and London. His mother was an actress and his father was an actor and they got married just before World War II. He managed to produce himself and his older brother Pieter. His mother fell in love with another man called Jack Morpurgo. His father came back to London from the war in 1946. His parents divorced, Jack Morpurgo emigrated to Canada. Then when he was 19 he was watching Great Expectations on the television one Christmas evening with the family and in the first scene up from behind a gravestone rears a hideous convict, Magwitch. Michael's mother was sitting next to him, grabbed his knee and said ‘Oh my God, it’s your father’. Michael had his dramatic stories from his early life.
