If you need a username usurped because of Global Login (SUL), there is currently a bug that does not allow an account to be renamed to one that has started the SUL process. Once the process is started, the name is protected on all Wikimedia projects. The user currently using that name may be renamed so it is not blocking the SUL login but another account cannot be moved to it. Do not create a new account to request usurption of an SUL name. If the requested name is an obvious impostor, there is usualy no problem with the request being processed. |
Users can ask a bureaucrat to change their username for them on this page. The list of current bureaucrats can be found here.
Before asking for a rename, please make sure that the username you want is allowed under the username policy. Do not create an account under the new name - bureaucrats cannot merge contributions from one account to another, only rename existing accounts.

Add your request to this section if you are requesting an account be renamed due to conflicts in the SUL merge process. You must provide a link back to your userspace on your main Wikipedia with confirmation of the requested rename.

- Done Normally it is advisable to leave a message on your home wiki to confirm the request, but as the SUL util shows simple:Ruga is not attached to the global account (which is it:Ruga) it really is not that important (global automatically protects against usurp&impersonate tactics) -- Creol(talk) 13:46, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
