[edit] Changes to Format
Kyle Sandilands, Ian Dickson, and Marcia Hines return as judges, however long term judge Mark Holden is leaving to pursue other interests[1]. Andrew G is also departing as a host, with Channel 10 yet to announce the replacement[2]. Ocassional guest actress Meryl Cassie[3], and Disney Channel model Jeremy Shum[4] made a celebrity appearance on the Idol competition.
[edit] Ratings
The future ratings of the Show was initially unclear with the resignation of judge Mark Holden[1], and a similar decrease in ratings to Big Brother Australia.
[edit] Website
The Australian Idol website was launched, allowing user registration in order to enter exclusive competitions, participate in forums, chat live with Idols (from September 11), set reminders, and ticket requests to be in the Idol studio audience (from August 26). The pass is a universal Channel 10 pass which allows access to other content such as Big Brother.
[edit] Broadcast schedule
Beginning early April, Channel 10 advertised the upcoming Australian Idol on FaceBook[5]. A teaser clip of the upcoming season was also occasionally featured on Channel 10.

[edit] Structure of auditions
Auditions for the show were held in the eleven cities shown above. Past process is expected to be followed: long lines, then were herded before two young assistant producers and given roughly 15 seconds to perform one song. At that point the large majority of them were summarily rejected.
Survivors of the first phase were typically seen then by Idol's executive producers, and only if surviving that cut (because they were especially good and fit what Idol was looking for, or especially bad in some novel way) were seen by Sandilands, Hines, and Dickson. The contestants then had one chance to impress the judges by singing a song of their choice a cappella. Then the judges each gave the contestant either a "Yes" or a "No" to continue to the next round. If the contestant received a majority of yeses, the contestant received a "golden ticket" and qualified for the "Top 100". If rejected, the contestant returned home.
