[edit] Character Overview
In Soul Calibur III, Amy wears outfits resembling the Gothic Lolita style. As a bonus character, Amy represents the custom discipline "Rapier" of the Character Creation mode. Her "Destined Battle" in Soul Calibur III is Raphael. She only says a few words in the entirety of the game. During Raphael's ending she says: "Amy". She also says "No!" and "Oww!" as a playable extra character in battle when she has been hit by an enemy.[3]
In Soulcalibur III: Arcade Edition, Amy has a specially-designed alternate costume which is not available in the Home Versions of the game.[4]
Amy returns in Soul Calibur IV with an updated costume which bears a similar style to the previous one. She still wields Albion as her weapon.[5]
[edit] Background Story
In Soulcalibur III, Amy was a poor orphan who lived on the streets of Rouen. Her parents died of a plague that had spread across all of Europe during this time period. She had no other family to go to after the loss of her parents. One day she came across a man named Raphael, who was being chased by the local authorities. She hid Raphael from the soldiers who were pursuing him; though only in spite of the soldiers, who ran her poverty stricken town. As Raphael had never owed his life to anyone before, he felt he must protect and repay her. He felt something he never had before for Amy, so he took her in to his home and looked after her as his own daughter, to repay her for the kindness she had shown to him.
One day, Raphael returned from a vicious battle with Nightmare, the wielder of Soul Edge. Raphael collapsed before Amy's eyes and she nursed him back to consciousness. When he came round he told her that through the battle he had become infected by the evil seed, and by handling his blood, she was also infected. Their skin turned pale and their eyes shone red. They felt weak and sluggish by day, and a powerful thirst by night. Amy had always found it hard to open her heart to the world, but now she couldn't even try because she was too different from everyone else. She was no longer human. She went with Raphael to the castle he bought in Romania. She sat in a dim room seeing the torches and troops gathering there. Raphael left, saying he will be out for a while. He took care of the troops and the noises ceased. They eventually returned, but he didn't. He had left her. And now the noises and light spread violently in the world he made, bringing it to ruins. She stood up and went to the exit. She was bound to the words from those days and then she smiled. For it was her who must protect this world that Raphael created.[6]
[edit] Soulcalibur III ending
Because she is not an official character she has no Soulcalibur III ending; however, she appears in both of Raphael's. In the one where the buttons are not pressed, she is healed by Kilik while an infected Raphael heads their way. If the right button sequence is pressed, Raphael will arrive to a still cursed Amy with plans to make her a world.[7]
[edit] Gameplay
This section may contain original research or unverified claims. Please improve the article by adding references. See the talk page for details. (June 2008) |
Amy is considered a good character overall. She has a lot of trick moves that could annoy her opponents with a mixture of her speed.
Amy players should stay close to the opponent as much as possible to not let it get away from Amy's trick moves. However, she has problems with long range characters so players should stay at close ranges, and mid-range is also a wise choice.
Amy is easy to master and could be one of the most useful characters, use a combination of speed and tricks to get things going.
[edit] Weapons
-- Albion
Amy wields a rapier named Albion.[8] Aside from its name, nothing else is known about it. Raphael probably gave it to her; however, it closely resembles the Queen's Guard, Raphael's ultimate weapon. Albion is also the most ancient name for the British Isles (now more commonly associated with England), this is curious as Raphael and Amy are both French, and at the time the game is set (the 16th/17th Century) the two nations were sworn enemies.
[edit] Stages
-- Romanian Valley - Castle Siege (SC3:AE)
Amy shares this stage with Raphael. It has been more than 100 years since Vlad the Impaler led his army against the Ottoman Turks and crossed swords with the Sultan in order to protect this land and his home country of Walachia. Located somewhere in the deep mists of the southern Carpathian Mountains, this castle was not originally designed for a battle of that nature, but it was now about to face exactly that. The army of the Duchy of Walachia surrounded the castle and, seeing that the master of the castle was not going to give up without a fight, began their attack. No one knows why the national army initiated such a large-scale move, but the rumors say that a contagious disease that brings with it mysterious symptoms was spreading from beneath the castle, and the country had moved to destroy it at the source.[9]
