AmiDaniel's EditCounter is a simple Windows application developed for the English language Wikipedia that retrieves the number of edits a user has made within a specific namespace (or in all namespaces).
[edit] Overview
After the unexpected decision was made to no longer replicate data from the English language Wikipedia to the toolserver, I still needed a quick, easy way to obtain raw edit counts for users requesting permission to use VandalProof. I began exploring a few other options, such as Flcelloguy's tool; however, they simply took too long to return the edit count, and I couldn't practically use them on every user requesting VP; thus, I wrote this simple little tool that allows the user to set a limit on the maximum number of edits it queries (from 0 to 5000), and it also allows the user to restrict the query to a specific namespace. When the limit is set at 5000 it take about as long as Flcelloguy's tool, but the lower you set it, the faster the tool returns the edit count. (It generally takes as long to return an edit count as it does to load a user's contributions.)
