[edit] Welcome

Hi Aleta! Welcome to the Alabama WikiProject! Please jump right in! If you have any questions, post a note on the project talk page or ask someone on the member list.
Вasil | talk 16:51, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Basil beat me to it, but welcome. We look forward to your comments and edits. I from south Alabama, near Mobile although I grew up in Tuscaloosa. JodyB talk 17:41, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Looks like I'm the slow one today, but I'll third that welcome. We're a fairly new project, so we haven't started any collaboration efforts yet, but we definitely have a great deal of articles that need improving. Your suggestion for SatyrBot to do some tagging sounds great. Look forward to working with you, - auburnpilot talk 17:59, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

I noticed a couple red link, empty categories and removed them from Wikipedia:WikiProject Alabama/Categories. I see you were editing the page just minutes before me...should these cats remain, simply commented out as you did with a few others? - auburnpilot talk 03:56, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stonewall Book Award

Hi Aleta, I posted on Talk:Stonewall Book Award, but got zero response. As you are one of the very few editors of the Talk page, I wondered if you had an opinion? Pdfpdf 11:40, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Demonolatry

Someone has proposed a merge of demonolatry with demonology. You've contributed to the article, so it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts. Hope to see you on the talk page sometime:)Merkinsmum 17:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Alabama is still overly expansive

Are you also responsible for the tagging of articles such as Mississippi Public Broadcasting as part of the Alabama Project? (I deleted the tag from that one earlier, but Satyrbot has re-added it...) Also, I don't think that every plant that grows in Alabama (and elsewhere) should be included in the project...--orlady 05:41, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

I see that MPB is categorized with tv stations in Huntsville/Decatur. It did not occur to me (or I guess anyone else who looked at the cat list) that there would be networks from neighboring states in the category. I took the AL project tag back off that talk page. I don't know why the bot replaced it after you removed it the first time. Aleta 05:53, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah, that explains the inclusion of MPB in Alabama. Broadcast stations whose signals spill across the border would be included in some categories for the receiving state, but it did look pretty silly to suggest that Mississippi broadcasting is part of the Alabama project. --orlady 14:00, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Additionally, I think it perfectly reasonable to include plants of AL in the project. Just because an article is in the purview of one project, that project doesn't own it. Some articles fall within the purview of several different projects. Including the flora and tree cats was not an error. Aleta 06:15, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Unless a plant or animal has a strong unique association with a particular place (for example, Florida panther in Florida), I don't see much useful purpose in including it in the scope of a state project. Organisms such as Hellbender and American persimmon have a large geographic range, so they logically could be included in many different geographic projects. State editors have plenty of other things to do without tackling the articles about the humongous number of species that exist inside each state's borders, and editors with a flora/fauna focus are better qualified to work on these articles. I see that Category:Trees of Alabama is what was flagged for inclusion in the Alabama project, but I would observe that it is a tiny fraction of the trees found in the state and none of the trees listed are uniquely associated with Alabama. (I guess I should be commenting that the category is misbegotten...)--orlady 14:00, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Matt Sanchez

Your most recent comment (15:09 UTC, 13 July 2007) refers to a suggested edit proposed by Donnachadh. Do you mean the suggested edit proposed by me? Donnachadh simply rejected Sanchez's proposed edit; I was the one who came up with the suggested edit. Note that my proposal came after both of Sanchez's posts on the topic. Horologium t-c 16:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Uh, yeah, looking back at the page, I meant your suggestion, and I didn't notice that you'd written it after Matt's last post. I stuck my comment. Sorry about the confusion. Aleta 16:23, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Poppy Z. Brite

You put her on the list of of GLB people, dear, when she should be on List of transgender people. The two are separate. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 10:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Níð

Hi Aleta! I noticed you tagged Níð as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Mythology, rating it as B-Class. However, it would be nice if you could use the option offered by your tag and leave a few comments on where specifically the article is still lacking. Is it that most sources are in German? --Tlatosmd 09:48, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 08:56, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week

WikiProject Pharmacology is currently organizing a new Collaboration of the Week program, designed to bring drug and medication related articles up to featured status. We're currently soliciting nominations and/or voting on nominations for the first WP:RxCOTW, to begin on September 5, 2007. Please stop by the Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week page to participate! Thanks! Dr. Cash 17:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week

Aspirin has been selected as this week's Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week! Please help us bring this article up to featured standards during the week. The goal is to nominate this at WP:FAC on September 10, 2007.

Also, please visitWP:RxCOTW to support other articles for the next COTW. Articles that have been nominated thus far include Doxorubicin, Paracetamol (in the lead with 4 support votes so far), Muscle relaxant, Ethanol, and Bufotenin.

In other news:

  • The Wikipedia:WikiProject Pharmacology main page has been updated and overhauled, to make it easier to find things, as well as to highlight other goals and announcements for the project.
  • Fvasconcellos notes that discussion is ongoing regarding the current wording of MEDMOS on including dosage information in drug articles. All input is welcome.

[edit] WikiProject Pharmacology Update

Here's a brief update in some of the recent developments of WikiProject Pharmacology!

  • Aspirin has just completed its two week run as the first Collaboration of the Week! Many thanks to those editors that contributed; the article got a lot of good work accomplished, and in particular, much work was done in fixing up the history section. It's still not quite "done" yet (is a wikipedia article really ever done?), but after two weeks I think it's more important to push onwards with the development of the new collaboration of the week program. I will be fixing up Aspirin in the next few days and possibly nominating it for either GA or FA status.
  • Please remember that Wikipedia is not a forum for discussing or dispensing medical advice amongst users. Specifically, talk pages of articles should only be used to discuss improving the actual article in question. To help alleviate this situation, the template {{talkheader}} may be added to the top of talk pages, reminding users of the purpose of such pages. Additionally, unsigned comments and comments by anonymous users that are inappropriate may be removed from talk pages without being considered vandalism.

You are receiving this message because you are listed as one of the participants of WikiProject Pharmacology.

[edit] AfD Nomination: List of LGBT characters in modern written fiction

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that List of LGBT characters in modern written fiction meets these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of LGBT characters in modern written fiction. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Pocopocopocopoco 01:46, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for cleanup

Sorry the Politics of Harry Potter is such a disaster, and thanks for your efforts cleaning up all the references and the gentle edit.

Oh...I'm glad to see you know where your towel is! Personally I'd like Wikipedia more if it had a label advising everyone, "Don't Panic!". Libertycookies 07:19, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dumbledore vote

Hi. All the arguing over where we should discuss Dumbledore's sexual orientation is proving useless. We need to work out just who is in favour of what and a vote seems the only way to go about it. I'm asking for your opinion since you had a say in the general argument. Thank you. asyndeton 10:47, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Pharmacology Update

Here are a few updates in the realm of WikiProject Pharmacology:

  • The Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week has been changed to Collaboration of the Month, based on current participation levels. It is also more likely that articles collaborated on for one month are more likely to achieve featured quality than articles worked on for only a week or two.
