[edit] AgreeneyedFox
A-green-eyed-Fox is the biggest fan of the Star Fox series in the world, and knows more than anyone about it. Now, I'm sure a lot of people say that, but I really do know the most. Random trivia, in-game dialogue quotes, you name it. I know it all.
[edit] Brawl speculation comes to an end *SPOILERS*
The final roster:
Past speculation:
- Captain Falcon is obviously in the game. His rival, Samurai Goroh has been confirmed as an Assist Trophy, along with his symbol.
- Jigglypuff was unlockable in the other two games, but has never had any real signifigance in the games and could easily be cut. Jigglypuff is also a first gen. Pokemon, and with Pikachu and the Trainer, a more recent generation Pokemon could take the 'puff's place.
- Luigi is really the only exception of a clone character returning as a clone.
- Ness could possibly be cut. However, seeing that Lucas has different normal attacks than Ness, the two could possibly co-exist with the same specials.
- Dr. Mario absolutely not.
- Young Link probably won't return in the same Ocarina of Time form, if he does. He could be replaced by the cel-shaded "cartoon" style Link first seen in The Wind Waker. At first I thought that having two Links would be a stupid idea, but now I've thought about it, and I think it might be necessary to include him to emphasize that there have been several different Links in the history of the Zelda games.
- Ganondorf should return with a completely new moveset, along with "Ganon" as his Final Smash, like Bowser's Giga Bowser Transformation.
- Shiek, Zelda's alter ego and down+B move, still remains a mystery at this point.
- Falco Lombardi should return, but not as a clone of Fox, perhaps armed with various weapons from Star Fox: Assault for his special moves. Fox, the land animal, gets the ground vehicle, the Landmaster, for his Final Smash, while Falco, the bird, would naturally take command over the flying vehicle, the Arwing.
- Pichu is annoying and by my opinion should not return.
- Mewtwo has a better shot at returning than Jigglypuff since he's the main villain of the franchise.
- Marth will most likely return. The Fire Emblem logo also still seems to be his sword.
- Roy is obscure and doubtful.
- Mr. Game & Watch could possibly be visually redesigned as a three-dimensional cel-shaded character.
Possible newcomers:
- Krystal of Star Fox fame, armed with her staff from Star Fox Adventures.
- Ridley from the Metroid series. His boss battle music has been revealed, which makes him seem likely. He is briefly seen in the opening movie in Melee, and he was a trophy.
- K. Rool, archenemy of Donkey Kong.
- Captain Olimar from the Pikmin games.
- Pac-Man
[edit] Stages
- Battlefield is the same basic three-platform stage from Melee, but it has been visually redesigned. This stage cycles through day and night. "Menu 1" from the site's Music section plays on this stage.
- Delfino Plaza from Super Mario Sunshine. A simple flat stage with two platforms flies around above the plaza and drops players off in different locations.
- Yoshi's Island is a fairly simple stage with one long central platform somewhat shorter than the main platform. This stage goes through seasonal changes. A "support ghost" pops up from the bottom of the screen occasionally, aiding players as a platform.
- Lylat Cruise is a Star Fox arena. A spacecraft originating from Brawl called the Pleiades will take players on a cruise of the Lylat system. Players fight on top of the rear section of the craft, which is somewhat similar to the Battlefield stage. The Pleiades warps to various locations in the Lylat system, such as an asteroid belt where Team Star Fox is seen in combat, the atmosphere of the planet Corneria, and an epic space battle.
- Bridge of Eldin is a Zelda stage from Twilight Princess. It is a very long, very flat stone bridge. Occasionally, King Bulblin will make an appearance and blast holes in the bridge. The missing chunk of bridge will ruturn through a vortex.
- Smashville is an Animal Crossing arena similar in layout to the Yoshi's Island stage. The time of day on this stage is determined by the Wii's internal clock.
- Rumble Falls is a Donkey Kong stage. It's like a jungle version of the Icicle Mountain stage in Melee, but it only seems to move up.
- Skyworld is a Kid Icarus stage surrounded by clouds and has several breakable stone platforms.
- Castle Siege is a Fire Emblem stage. A castle is under attack, getting fireballs hurled at it as players fight atop the castle. Eventually, the roof is destroyed and players fall down into the thrown room with breakable statues holding up platforms. The players will then somehow fall underground.
- WarioWare serves as Wario's home turf. A delightfully absurd and rapidly changing stage based on the microgames in the WarioWare series.
- Pokémon Stadium 2 seems to be the "sequel" stage to the original Stadium seen in Melee. It doesn't appear to have changed much while in default form, but the transformations this time around are entirely new, along with guest Pokémon appearing in the background. The four alterations are Electric, Ground, Flying, and Ice.
- Battleship Halberd
- Shadow Moses Island
- New Pork City
- PictoChat
- The Summit
- Norfair
