Vaiano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Prato in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 25 km northwest of Florence and about 10 km north of Prato. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 9,532 and an area of 34.2 km².[1]
The municipality of Vaiano contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) La Tignamica, La Briglia, La Foresta, and Schignano.
Vaiano borders the following municipalities: Barberino di Mugello, Calenzano, Cantagallo, Montemurlo, Prato.
