The University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering, often referred to as just COE, is a highly ranked school within the Nation. History of the COE goes back to 1857 where the first department within engineering was created by the Board of Regents. It was not until 1868 where the first Professor of engineering, Colonel W.R. Pease, was hired.[1] According to The U.S. News & World Report's latest rankings, UW-Madison is ranked 13th-best engineering program nationwide and an impressive fourth best in chemical engineering.
