The University of Applied Arts Vienna (German: Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, or informally just Die Angewandte) is an institution of higher education in Vienna, the capital of Austria. It was founded in 1867 and has had university status since 1970.

The Angewandte was founded in 1867. It was the first school of its kind on the continent. In 1941 it became an institution of higher education. In 1970 it was awarded the title of a university and in 1998 the school was renamed the Universität für angewandte Künste (University of applied arts).

Famous artists such as Gustav Klimt and Oskar Kokoschka are associated with the university's past. Today also its faculty includes many distinguished artists and teachers, such as Christian Ludwig Attersee, Adolf Frohner, Erwin Wurm, Zaha Hadid, Greg Lynn, and Wolf Prix of Coop Himmelb(l)au.

The university has currently c. 1,800 students and c. 340 faculty. The students come from 49 different countries to study in the 29 disciplines of the school. They form their creative ideas in 56 different languages. The outcome of their processes is made public in 200 exhibitions a year and a multitude of different events and other public presentations.
