BeyBlade: Super Tournament Battle (known as Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 2002 [2] in Japan) is an RPG video game based on the anime and manga Beyblade and was released originally in 2002. In the game, the player selects a "beyblade" and a beyblader to fight in a tournament, buying better blades as the game progresses.

Contents

[edit] Game modes

By the time the player is in the lobby, he may choose where is he going to. There are several game modes, and some not-fighting areas.

[edit] Tournament

This is the main mode. The player can fight only using Atari character. While the player is winning the battles, he will be unlocking some secret characters, and will be earning experience and Bey Points. The player begins fighting at the set of preliminaries, and after that, he will be at the National Championship Tournament Finals.

[edit] Free Battle

In this mode, the player can fight against a CPU or a friend. It is useful to improve the player's skills, or just to have some fun.

[edit] 1P Game

This game holds two options:

  • 10 Battles-The player shall fight in time against ten different adversaries, and so beat them all.
  • Team Battle-The player choose four characters to form a team, and then to fight another 4-player team. The player control all the characters of his team, so once the first beyblader loose, he will control the second.

[edit] 4P Game

This game also holds two options:

  • Battle Royal-The player choose a character, and then fight against three others character randomly chosed, at the same time at the same stadium. The last to be spinning on the stadium is the winner.
  • Tag-The characters are divided into two teams, and then they may fight two-on-two.

[edit] Options

Here the player can save his progress, load a saved game, adjust sound settings, turn the rumble feature on/off, and set the difficulty level (easy, medium, hard)

[edit] Shop

Here is the place where parts are bought and beyblades are customized. It is also possible to see the status of the beyblades and to change beyblade's parts.

[edit] Gallery

Here is a gellery of photographs and information about legendary real-life beyblades. They are unlocked as the game progress, and the characters who stay in the lobby may tell the player when there is a new image. The player must talk to them to learn if there is a new image.

[edit] Battles

The battles throughout the game work all the same way. The majority of them are not only a single battle, as the true winner is the one who earns four points. In each battle the player can get one, two or four points.

[edit] Launching

First, the bladers launch their beyblades. Before launching, a "Launch Meter" fill quickly until the player hit the launching button or it reaches the end of the "Launch Meter", meaning that the blader missed the launch. The closer the yellow meter is to the end of the "Launch Meter" when the player hits the button, the more powerful the launch is.

[edit] Bit Beast Attack Launch

If the Legend Power (LP) is enough, the player can use a Bit Beast Attack just as he/she launches the beyblade, providing more attack power.

[edit] In the battle

In battle the player must use his strategy to win, before he is defeated. There are four ways to lose a battle:

  • Miss Launch: As explained above, this happens when the player does not hit the launching button before the bar is totally filled. It gives a point to the opponent.
  • Crash Out: If the Hit Points (HP) of the beyblade reaches zero, the beyblade will be instantly destroyed. As the player is not able to battle any more, the opponent earns 4 points, and so win the battle.
  • Stadium Out: Losing by Stadium Out means getting out of the stadium. This is caused mainly by strong attacks that force the bladers to the open borders of the stadium. It gives 2 points to the opponent.
  • Sleep Out: When the beyblade stops spinning, it loses by Sleep Out, giving a point to the opponent.

[edit] Bit Beast Attack

When there's enough LP available, the player can launch a Bit Beast Attack. The more LP is available, the more powerful the attack is. However, using a Bit Beast Attack drains away all accumulated LP. It is also possible to dodge a Bit Beast Attack, by pressing B button or R button when the opponent launches the Bit Beast Attack. It does not always work, though.

[edit] Characters

The game introduces characters from Beyblade V Force. Their personality does not influence the game play, and some of them doesn't use their original bit-beasts.

  • Atari-This is the character that is used at the tournaments. The player can change his/her name to the player's, or whatever he wants, and can choose his/her bit beast and beyblade pieces, remembering that all pieces cost some points.
  • Tyson
  • Kai
  • Ray
  • Max
  • Ozuma
  • Dunga
  • Mariam
  • Kane
  • Goki
  • Kenny
  • Daichi (Unlockable Character)
  • King (Unlockable Character)
  • DJ Jazzman (Unlockable Character)

[edit] Stadiums

The game has three options of stadiums (one of them come along with three more options):

[edit] Normal Stadium

An yellow simple stadium with no obstacles which could affect the battle.

[edit] Magne Stadium

This black stadium has magnets placed all on it. The player can choose the way they are placed:

  • Random - They are placed randomly on the stadium, without following any kind of order.
  • Circle - A circle of magnets at the center of the stadium. They make it easier for the players to spin out of the stadium, but make it more difficult to avoid attacks.
  • Danger - In this mode, the magnets are placed at the borders of the stadium. They make it almost impossible to spins out of the stadium, but once the beyblade pass them, it is almost impossible to come back.

[edit] Ultimate Stadium

This is the most challenging stadium of the game. It's red center rotates, and can alternate the direction and the speed of the rotation. Also, the borders have fences that are closed until they are hit once, so the player must be forced there twice to spin out of the stadiuim. Then, they remain closed until the end of the battle.
