Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, U.S.

Sprague Grayden (born July 21, 1980) is an American television, film and theater actress born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. An alumna of Manchester-Essex Regional High School and Barnard College, Columbia University, she has been appearing since the fall of 2006 in the US television drama Jericho, where she plays schoolteacher Heather Lisinski.

Grayden co-starred in the short-lived FX war drama Over There in 2005, and had a recurring role in the fourth and fifth seasons of the HBO series Six Feet Under as Anita Miller, and the second season of the CBS series Joan of Arcadia as Judith Montgomery. She also had a substantial supporting role in the 2002 FOX TV series John Doe as Karen Kawalski.

Sprague has been involved in critically acclaimed shows (Joan of Arcadia, Six Feet Under, John Doe). She often takes character roles that are eccentric or a bit different. She has been killed off in two of the TV series and the shows were soon canceled. In Jericho, her character was reported to be dead late in the first season, but was revealed to be alive in the season finale.

Grayden's other television credits include guest appearances in Weeds, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Crossing Jordan, One Tree Hill, and CSI: NY. She also starred in the 1989 film Dad as "Young Annie", and has been acting since the age of five.[1]

Her theater credits include productions of Hopscotch: The New York Sex Comedy, Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, Sam Shepard's Fool for Love, Hamlet, Clifford Odets' Waiting for Lefty and Ordinary Day.

Grayden's unusual first name is her mother's maiden name. "It was my dad's idea and it has worked out well for me," she said in an interview.[2]

Sprague will play the First Daughter in 24's upcoming seventh season.[3]
