Showtime Arabia, as it's called to distinguish itself from its U.S. counterpart (Showtime), is the dominant subscription television service in the Middle East, North Africa and the Levant territories. It is a joint venture between KIPCO (79% stake) and CBS Corporation (21% stake), CBS Corp being a minor partner[1][2]. The company is incorporated in the Cayman Islands and has its headquarters at Dubai Media City in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. [3]
Showtime Arabia is one of the leading pay TV networks in the Middle East and North Africa[4], offering:
- The latest blockbuster movies from Hollywood studios including Paramount, Dreamworks, Sony, Columbia, NBC Universal and Disney plus other local producers.
- Exclusive premium sports including the Premier League, the Rugby World Cup and other major sporting events.
- Various international series and shows including; Desperate Housewives, Lost, Prison Break, Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, 24 and Ugly Betty.
- Exclusive music channels.

Gulf DTH F.Z. L.L.C. is the operating company behind the digital pay TV broadcaster, Showtime Arabia. Its broadcast facilities are based at Dubai Media City in the United Arab Emirates and its uplink teleport station is Samacom, the monopoly uplink provider in the UAE. Showtime Arabia uses Irdeto Access Conditional Access technology, to encrypt its DTH channels over satellite and the OpenTV interactive platform that runs on primarily UEC set-top boxes.
