[edit] Misspellings?

Did they really misspell nemesis divina and extravaganza in their album titles? Ortolan88

[edit] NPOV/Wrong

wow. this is one of the most opinionated entries i've ever seen. and just flat out WRONG. Shadowthrone doesn't sound ANYTHING like DMT. The vocals are different, the riffs are more Viking metal oriented, I could go on.

Agreed. Since when is Rebel Extravaganza urban? The Author makes it sound like it's a rap album.

[edit] Black Metal, Thrash

Could Satyricon be called a black metal band with thrash influences? I know black metal evolved out of thrash but they have black vocals and lyrics, with thrashy/black music. To me their music isn't as heavy as other black metal CD's In Flames 17:27, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] this article is disgraceful.

I don't know all that much about this subject, and after reading this "article" I still don't know anything about it. I also highly doubt some of the claims made in this article and it's sloppy.

I favor just nuking the thing and starting fresh. --TopGear 01:41, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Origin of “Satyricon”

Did Satyricon name themselves after the Roman Novel? If so, why, if not what were they named after? Please either put into Wiki page or reply here and I/someone else will. Thanks (Maverician)

They most likely named themselves after the Fellini movie which is based on the novel.--Hndsmepete 05:25, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Get some believable reference(s) and slap it (and the references) in there. --80.217.189.62

[edit] Citation

In my humble opinion, many parts of this article need citations... James Hetfield a fan of Satyricon ? Says who ? Their last album sells extraordinarily well ? Again, source ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.140.36.118 (talk) 00:08, 15 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Satyricon Logo.png

Image:Satyricon Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:06, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spun Movie

When someone finally decides to rewrite this article please include the appearance of "Mother North" and "Fuel For Hatred" in the movie Spun.--Hndsmepete 05:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Genre debate

we need to have a conversation about the genre of Satyricon here. There first few albums were definitely black metal, but should we also mention the medieval metal part? I'm not sure they have enough of the "medieval" folk sound to put that genre in. Also, as everyone already knows they now have a more rock oriented black metal, and how are we to mention that? I gotta say I respect the rock oriented black metal, but as catchy as some of the songs were on their newer stuff, Satyricon just doesn't seem to be doing it right. I mean they say they were inspired by Venom to do the rock oriented black metal, but Venom, in my opinion, did it fucking right and no one can come close. They were still more black metal than rock, though. They never lost the black metal sound and Satyricon is kinda gearing more towards the rock side, which is not neccesarily good, albeit "catchy." Navnløs (talk) 21:23, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

/sign to change the genre to Black N Roll. Lol - Def Black/Medieval Metal origins, now Black N Roll. Lol —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.203.32.43 (talk) 17:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
WTF are you talking about? I'm sorry but I did not understand that one bit. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Medieval metal

Is there any evidence anywhere that a black metal subgenre known as medieval metal even exist? The article for medieval metal on wikipedia specifically talks about a german folk metal scene with bagpipes and other medieval instruments. It's light happy music. Nothing black metal-ish about medieval metal groups like Subway to Sally. So what's with this claim here that Satyricon started a black metal subgenre known as medieval metal? A claim without any citation or references for verifiability. Sounds more like original research. --Bardin (talk) 01:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Now, Diabolical

The following part doesn't make any sense:

In 2006, the band released a new studio album, Now, Diabolical. The album has generated a great degree of controversy in the black metal underground, due to its straightforward, "radio-friendly" take on the genre. The album is selling well, however, even outside of black metal circles.

If it's supposedly more radio-friendly, it's fairly obvious that it would sell better... Why the "however" in that last part? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.190.253.160 (talk) 21:54, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I understand what you are saying, but I believe the "however" is there because most real black metal fans would be opposed to a "radio friendly" album and therefore may not buy it. So they are saying that despite that fact it sold well. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:30, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] my skin is cold

there is some info of this EP on the official website, including the album cover and tracklist. someone with a few minutes to spare and knowledge can please create the my skin is cold EP

also they have said in their website that they are working on a new full length album, so it's probably a good idea to include that as a "TBA (2008)" where needed. 213.96.203.23 (talk) 14:36, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
