Sands End
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sands End lies in the southernmost part of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in London, England. Along the banks of the Thames lies Hurlingham Retail Park, which houses Currys and PC World.
There is also a business enterprise centre in the Sulivan region. Across the other side of Townmead Road there is a large Sainsbury's, and currently there is the Imperial Wharf development, which will be a mixture of affordable housing, both private and public, shops, a park, and a new station, linking Clapham Junction with Willesden Junction via Kensington (Olympia). The station is tentatively called Imperial Wharf and was due to open September 2005, but has been delayed until 2008 at the very earliest. A previous funding shortfall has been bridged and in April 2008, the London Bourough of Hammersmith and Fulham reported that the construction of the new Overground station at Imperial Wharf will commence as early as June 2008. This will help re-vitalise the area and increase the transport links in the areas which until now, have only been served by two poor bus services (391 & C3 routes).
Also set in this part of Fulham is both Hurlingham Park and South Park. Wandsworth Bridge Road runs through the centre of Sands End and itself offers some restaurants, some pine shops, and St Matthew's Church.
