[edit] Guidelines and Policies

I don't have to read all the policies and quidelines and study every detail in them before I start editing here. If I don't know them, and I make an error, it would be good if you learned how to tell me in a nice, polite way. The fact that you are an admin doesn't make you the one who is allowed to be rude. Nice day. ackoz 17:21, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if I have been rude--I didn't intend to be. And you're right, you don't have to know all the policies to edit--I sure as heck don't (I'm not an admin, by the way, just another editor). But I think you do have some responsibility to know policies if you're making official accusations that someone is breaking them, especially if you're making them on AN/I. That's pretty far up the escalation ladder, past, say, putting a message on his talk page.
But OK, I do apologize if I came off as rude. I intended my "please read the policy" as a gentle pointer, not a scolding. I can see how it probably sounded harsh--my bad. · rodii · 21:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Good

Glad I'm not nuts. :-D Yeah that article is a perfect example of fancruft. Fans of the show are writing the article and they don't quite see that they have to write the article for everyone, not just other fans. I might take a look at editing it later today and see what I can do. --Woohookitty(meow) 14:34, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bible wiki

sorry about marking it minor - i was in a hurry and forgot to uncheck the box - I'll go write a better summary --Trödel 15:55, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Climbing the IDS Tower dressed as Batman

That's crazy talk!

(I hope you got that I was kidding with my "legal threat" comment.)

I knew you were kidding about the "legal threat" comment. Besides, there are a lot of silly lawsuits out there. If someone can sue the manufacturer of a lawnmower because they tried to use it as a hedge trimmer and cut their thumbs off, then there's a possibility that someone might sue Wikipedia because they were hunted down by the Green Goblin while dressed as Spider-Man. I called my state senator and asked him to sponsor a bill absolving nonprofit organizations from liability in case their volunteers dress up as cartoon characters in protest, but his office says he's busy working on some tax bill or something like that. --Elkman 04:24, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Too far

I tend to agree with your edit, still the decree template wasn't too far in my opinion because it is so "over the top" that it couldn't be taken "too far"... there should be some sort of template up there though for some sort of an "officialness". Also, a minor detail but that page isn't an article but seems to be heading towards becoming essay like. :-) Cheers. Netscott 14:36, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Prod

Hi yes you are entirely RIGHT SO SO SO SO SO SO RIGHT :) about the PROD - I reread it afterwards and noticed that you COULD remove it if you improved the article.

Thanks for the reminder.

[edit] U.N. List of Non-Self-Governing Territories

Thank you for your comment on my user-page. I have some further edits in mind to this article as well as potentially creating some related ones (once I make sure they are not already there). Your thoughts on my query at the end of the talk-page are welcome if you have any. Thanks again for feedback. Newyorkbrad 02:16, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:AtlanticWebfitters

Sorry for disturbing you - you already archived a thread on this topic - but he is still around and it seams, the blocks do not work. Kff 17:15, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your message on my talk page. To change his URL to the original article is a good idea, but creates a lot of work keeping his entries AtlanticWebfittters plus at least 2 IPs) under control. The CEO of AtlanticWebfitters tried to connect to me on openBC.com and I will ask him, what this is all about. Kff 07:55, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your support in my RfA!

Thanks for voting!
Hello Rodii, and thanks for your support in my recent RfA. I'm pleased to announce that it passed with a final tally of (96/0/0). I was overwhelmed by all of the nice comments and votes of confidence from everyone. Thanks again, and see you around! OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] East Timor is part of Asia, Southeast Asia more specifically.

East Timor is part of Asia, Southeast Asia more specifically, PERIOD! Even while East Timor has cultural and linguistical ties with "Melanesia" it is geographically part of Asia (Southeast Asia) and universally accepted so.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.255.230.227 (talkcontribs)

[edit] Wikispam from some random child

RE: Little Willy Willy honey, you keep deleting my text, this has only led me to believe that what I asked you has hit a nerve. I will say it again while I am still allowed before the NAzi's delete what freedom people have. I BELIEVE THAT LITTLE WILLY HERE AKA WILLIAMTHWEATT. IS FALSIFYING INFORMATION. I HAVE ASKED HIM ABOUT THE SUBJECT, AND ALSO WHERE I SHOULD ASK HIM ABOUT IT SO AS NOT TO BREAK WIKI RULES. NOT ONLY IS MY QUESTION CENSORED, BUT NO ANSWER FORTHCOMING. I BELIEVE THAT THIS USER IS ABUSING THE SITUATION. I AM NOT AN EXPERIENCED WIKIPEDIA USER AND BELIEVE THAT HE IS USING THIS TO HIS BENEFIT. I AM COPYING AND PASTING THIS TEXT IN AS MANY USER PAGES AS I CAN. PLEASE DO NOT INTERPRET THIS AS VANDALISM, I AM ONLY TRYING TO ROOT OUT HOSE WHO SEEK TO SUPRESS THE TRUTH. I AM NOTHING BUT WITH THE POWER OF INFORMATION WE WILL SUCCEED. PLEASE ASK WILL THE QUESTION ABOUT HIS CLAIMS OF KHMER LANGUAGE ABILITY, THEN YOU WILL SEE THE SMALLEST LIE ON THE PATH TO INJUSTICE AND CORRUPTION. PLEASE RELEASE THE TRUTH AND STOP WIKI-CORRUPTION. [edit] Red-links

Sorry, was drive-by cleaning up a big fat pointviolation when I dropped those links. Checked the talk page and you are right to exclude them. Links should be red shortly. Hipocrite - «Talk» 17:29, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blogger move.

What do you think about moving Blogger.com to Blogger (service)? Ultimately, it is a web service that allows people to post and host blogs (pardon the rhyming), and yet it's not a company because Google has full ownership over Blogger currently and it is now only a division of Google. Furthermore, Blogger itself was not a company - Pyra Labs was. Any ideas? Please let me know. Thanks! –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 06:19, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Blogger.com has been moved to Blogger (service), and Blogger is now a dab page. Funnily enough, Blogger always was a disambiguation page in the past, but rather, vandalism caused it to become a redirect. Thank you for all the help! :-) –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 16:38, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hawaiian language and Hawaiian phonology

No problem with the "seealso" vs. "main" thing. Actually, at the time of your edit I was just finishing reading about how to enter those templates, because I had never entered one before. I was just about to enter the template when you beat me to it by 26 seconds. So I merely adjusted it from "seealso" to "main", but we had basically the same idea at the same time.

Also, thanks for adding some visual interest to the Hawaiian language page by putting in that family tree image for the Polynesian family. Agent X 03:19, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Current CMS Software AfD

Hello Rodii. I noticed on your page, User:Rodii/CMSlist, that you have listed the program Bitweaver as "nn, delete". I thought you might be interested that the article is currently undergoing a Deletion review here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bitweaver2. The article has already been deleted twice and the author keeps reposting it. I thought you might visit and give us your insight. And thanks for all the hard work you have put into the Comparison of content management systems article. You guys have been doing a great job of keeping that from becoming a spam dump. Cheers. --Satori Son 23:50, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ypsilanti, Michigan, Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections, and WP:MUSIC

Hello —

I noticed you removed some text from Ypsilanti, Michigan on the basis of Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections in articles. The guideline, however, says "Lists of facts, as found in trivia sections, are better presented within the context of the text rather than in a section of unrelated items." Specifically the guideline "does not suggest deletion of trivia sections." So I've restored the text under a more specific heading ("In music").

You also removed some text about the band Bloodlined Calligraphy because they are "not notable". The band may or may not be notable under WP:MUSIC, but the standard for mentioning a music group in another article should be lower than for creating an article devoted to them. I find them sufficiently notable within the idea of "Ypsilanti in music" — their music engages with some of the issues laid forth in the article, and would be of value to anyone studying the town.

Feel free to revert or discuss at Talk:Ypsilanti, Michigan. Omphaloscope » talk 15:37, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Remembering the early web

Thanks for the pointer regarding the efforts to document the early web. I'll contribute some work in this when I'm done with my current focus. Good to hear from one of my favorite old-school MetaFilter users. Rcade 13:47, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rv Spam?

Hi! I just wanted to tell you that you accidentally re-added the spam links that I reverted when you were removing the vandalism. I'm telling you just if you are wondering why were your edits reverted by me. Thanks! --Esteban F. (contribs) 22:51, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

As you said, seems that we edited each other's talk page at the same time as well. Everything is OK now; sorry for the inconvenience! --Esteban F. (contribs) 22:56, 9 September 2006 (UTC):

[edit] Alihuraskandu

Does the channel down the "middle" of the double row of atolls have a name? Does it have any significance culturally or geographically? rodii 00:00, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

You asked this question last year, sorry for the late reply. The name of that channel is Alihuraskandu. It doesn't have much significance, except that in certain seasons the boats coming from the Southern Maldives were using it to travel. Despite the protection it offered, there was the treacherous Fussaru reef (West of Felidhu Atoll) to reckon with. Many local boats got lost there. Mohonu 12:26, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
