[edit] Leyasu

[1]

Code B

User:Leyasu was perm banned banned from Wikipedia back in July; since then (as earlier cases reflect below) he has returned with a frequency of IPs to resume the activity he was perm banned for. User:Cronodevir has been making edits identical to Leyasu's, i.e., changing band genres in articles to "gothic-doom", "gothic-doom-metal", or "symphonic metal". Compare:

User:86.132.130.138 edits: (blocked indefinitely as a User:Leyasu sockpuppet [2])

User:Cronodevir edits:

In addition, the writing style of User:Cronodevir is quite similar to Leyasu, for example, egregiously accusing other editors of pushing NPOV in articles [9] [10] [11] User:86.143.125.20 - a very similar IP to the Leyasu sockpuppet above - also removed the "suspected sockpuppet" tag from User:Cronodevir's userpage. --Danteferno 16:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Inconclusive, Cronodevir is not 86.132.130.138, but Leyasu's edits are too old to check. Dmcdevit·t 21:14, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Clerk note: Can you say whether Cronodevir is editing from British Telecom? That's Leyasu's trademark range, and there are some recent BT IP posts signed "Leyasu" that I could find if I had to. Thatcher131 02:50, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Comment: I don't see how Cronodevir could be Leyasu; Leyasu has pretty much only ever edited metal-related pages. In addition, his spelling conventions make him quite easy to pick out; when he wasn't just reverting other users, I had to copyedit his edits extensively on the rewrite pages. On the other hand, before Cronodevir started editing metal pages several weeks ago, Cronodevir spent about 7 months on Wikipedia editing what looks to me like Islam-related pages and was then inactive for several months. (I haven't looked through the Islam pages.) At first glance, Cronodevir looks like a completely different user to me, who just happens to agree with Leyasu in regards to gothic/gothic-doom genre classifications. Metal fans, perhaps a lot more than fans of most other kinds of music, argue endlessly over which sub-/genre of metal a band is; they can almost be divided up like Congress or Parliament into political parties as far as where they stand. Knowing whether or not Cronodevir edits from BT may shed some light here, but maybe Cronodevir and Leyasu are just in the same "party" in this debate.
To clarify the clerk note above, I saw some of the BT Leyasu posts from about 3 weeks ago on Thatcher's talk page. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 04:10, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Cronodevir is in the UK, but not on British Telecom. Dmcdevit·t 04:51, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Based on the pattern of edits ("removing the gothic metal genre and replacing it with "gothic doom" or "symphonic metal" - no other non-Leyasu ID has done this) I'm absolutely positive Cronodevir is Leyasu. Either that, or a very good impersonator. --Danteferno 14:31, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leyasu

Code B

Leyasu was banned by the community after repeated violations of his arbitration probation, see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Deathrocker#Log of blocks and bans involving multiple cases of sockpuppetry and editing from IP adresses (generally British Telecom).

Ours18 and Evenfiel are relatively new accounts that have found themselves directly confronting Deathrocker (talk · contribs), Leyasu's opponent in the above referenced arbitration. Leyasu has many things in common with Ours18 and Evenfiel, including making increasingly strident complaints, calling for Deathrocker to be banned rather than applying the selective blocks called for in the arbitration case, and making repeated accusations of sockpuppetry against Deathrocker which have never borne fruit.

These two editors were pursuing their complaint reasonably but have shifted into strident shouting conspiracy fighting holy-warrior mode. [14] [15]

So I think its time for a check. Thatcher131 19:20, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Evenfiel appears to be Unrelated to Ours18. Not enough information to say whether either is Lesayu. Jayjg (talk) 23:07, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Further request

Leyasu has edited today as 86.143.126.59 (talk • contribsWHOISRDNSRBLsblock userblock logcheckip) [16]. Does this help? There is also an open accusation that Fred138 (talk contribs logs block user block log checkuser) is a Leyasu sock. Leyasu jumped to Fred's defense within 30 minutes on ANI saying Fred had been cleared by checkuser, but I can find no record of it. Thatcher131 11:15, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, there's no doubt that is one of Leyasu's IP addresses. (British Telecom, edits to List of heavy metal genres and Tiamat (band)). I wish the result on Fred138, Ours18 and Evenfiel being related to Leyasu were more decisive (either way) than inconclusive. I guess these editors will just have to deal with other at face value. Thatcher131 18:09, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Leyasu jumped to my defense because we are both on soulseek and I sent him a message asking why the Hell he and I were accused of being the same person. On soulseek I am fredw138 and Leyasu is Lady of Perfection. It should also be noted that if I were Leyasu, I probably would have deleted Type O Negative and Moonspell from the list of gothic metal bands, but I see no evidence that they should be removed. I'd like this to be resolved, and perhaps there can be a way to prevent Deathrocker and Fair Deal from editing my page? I suspect that they are accusing me of sockpuppetry because they do not wish to refute any of my arguments. Also, some of the edits I made to the Gothic Metal page were me going to previous versions and attempting to work from them. At the time I didn't know how to use wikipedia very well, and I am still learning. --Fred138 02:11, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leyasu

Seeeing as its a trend to assume every IP and then some is me, lets test some of them.

Check please. If im going to be accused of something, i expect proof. Leyasu —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.17.99 (talkcontribs) 19:12, 30 August 2006

Clerk note: This is a self-check request based on a complaint filed by Leyasu at arbitration enforcement. Leyasu is known to edit from British Telecom; these IPs are from all over the world. It seems unlikely this check will yield any useful results unless they are open proxies. Thatcher131 (talk) 00:28, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Rejected Mackensen (talk) 20:55, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Then explain to me why you have accused them of being me when you know they are not. Leyasu

[edit] Leyasu

VandalismCorrecter (talk · contribs) has been editing Gothic metal and related pages over the past several days. He has been making edits that follow Leyasu's style, including calling good-faith edits vandalism [17], and removing references to "gothic metal" in band articles (sometimes changing them to "gothic-doom metal", as Leyasu sometimes did.). Circeus (talk contribs blocks protects deletions moves rights) and I have suspected that he is a Leyasu sock; Circeus indefinitely blocked him. However, VandalismCorrecter has consistently maintained that he is not Leyasu. [18]

Also, please let us know if it is still possible to fulfill requests for checkuser involving Leyasu, which may be a concern given that it has been almost two months since he was indefinitely blocked. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 04:24, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leyasu

The Gothic metal page has been edited by several IPs recently that might be Leyasu. There has been some discussion of it on WP:AN/I, and increased activity from 81.*.*.*/86.*.*.* anons on Gothic metal lead me to suspect continued sockpuppetry from Leyasu. Leyasu is on revert parole as a result of Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Leyasu and Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Deathrocker. He was given a 3-month block in June for violating revert parole and has been indefinitely blocked since June 13 as a result of continued block evasion. I am including the other registered accounts because they are blocked as suspected sockpuppets. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 19:04, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leyasu

Could somebody make sure that these are the same user? The IP address claimed at WP:AE that they were [19]; however, I don't think Leyasu has said anything about their IP addresses. Leyasu is currently under a block for evading the 1RR set by their arbcom ruling (Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Leyasu. The IP address has also been used to revert a page more than once in 24 hours. [20] [21] I am requesting a CheckUser because Leyasu has been blocked four times already (with the blocks ranging from 48 hours to a week) for violating their arbcom ruling. If Leyasu evaded the block by an IP address, they would presumably be blocked again (probably for a week), which would be the fifth block; and then the maximum block length for Leyasu would increase to one year. I just want to make sure that this anon really is Leyasu rather than an impersonator/impostor, so that any future blocks will be given fairly.

I added the other two IPs to the list based on messages copied over to WP:AE by Deiz and Ryouga. [22] [23] --Idont Havaname (Talk) 21:18, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leyasu

Hello, I'm involved in an Arbitration case right now (Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Leyasu), so I understand if my request for CU is not necessary as it will be performed anyway. I have been repeatedly accused by a user saying I'm a sock puppet. I'm basically sick of it by now, the case takes way too long, so I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks. -- parasti (talk) 09:58, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

There is certainly no evidence that you are at all associated with Leyasu in the data CheckUser has available. However one can't prove a negative absolutely with CheckUser. —Matthew Brown (T:C) 18:13, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. From what I understand, even different countries (as in this case) wouldn't be enough. Somehow I'm sure the user is going to use just that. -- parasti (talk) 18:36, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leyasu (talk · contribs) and marnues (talk · contribs)

Taken from this section:

  • Both have mistakenly used "classical" metal. I can understand one of them using that but both. I do smell a rat here. User:marnues is a sockpuppet of User:Leyasu. Gothic Hero 17:41, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Please check myself and this user to dismiss the foolish claim that i am a sockpuppet of anyone, or that this user is a sockpuppet of mine. Ley Shade 17:49, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
