The Red-hooded Tanager (Piranga rubriceps), is a medium-sized American songbird. Traditionally placed in the tanager family (Thraupidae) it is now thought to be much closer to cardinals (Cardinalidae).
It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montanes.
