Rainer Gustavo "Ray" Olmedo (born May 31, 1981 in Maracay, Aragua State, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball infielder in the Washington Nationals organization. He is a switch-hitter who throws right-handed. On February 1, 2008, Olmedo was claimed off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays by the Pittsburgh Pirates. On February 26, 2008, Olmedo was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies.[1] On March 28, he was sent outright to the minors, but declined the assignment and became a free agent, later signing a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.
In 171 games, Olmedo has batted .230 (81-352), with 25 RBI, 39 runs, 12 doubles, two triples and six stolen bases.
