[edit] image

The image you added to Euphronios and Sarpedon was a good one. Any particular reason why you then removed it? Curious, Chick Bowen 21:13, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

It's probably copywrite protected. Only 2d images are allowed as public domain, I wasn't thinking when I added it. I can contact the place I pulled it from and see if they'll give wikipedia permission, and if so I'll add it back. - Ravenous 21:19, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Ah, smart thinking--I wondered if copyright was the issue. The image is pretty low resolution, so a fair use claim should be possible--particularly since there's really no way to get a free image of a Euphronios work (now that the Louvre bans photography, as do most American museums). {{fairusein}} might be the best tag. Chick Bowen 21:27, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm... not a bad idea. - Ravenous 21:32, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Excellent--I just fiddled with the tags a little bit. By the way, since we claim it's low-res it probably should be lower than it is--I can't edit it now because I'm at a public computer, but I'll do so at home tonight. Looks good. Chick Bowen 22:09, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for putting the name back in the link. Sorry I missed that. RupertMillard 00:54, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Poetics

Hi, you deleted books like "Aristotle in Hollywood" from Poetics [1] without giving a reason. Could you explain to me why you deleted them? I'm interested, thanks :-) Peter S. 22:52, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Most of the "External links" sections in these articles on classical works contain only links to translations - and I've been working on improving those lists. When I edited the one for Poetics, I must have missed that there was a non-translation item in the list (I should be more observant). Anyway, we can set up a new External links section and add it back if you want. If this is a book you've read, would you be interested in adding some info from it to the section "Influence of Work"? That section definately needs more. Then we can put it in a "References" section... Ravenous 23:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I read the book (good one btw). I'm not sure it should be mentioned in "Influence of the work", though, since "Aristotle in Hollywood" is not really a bestseller. I think it's one of the best introductions into the rather difficult Poetics, though. I might add some info about it at a later time, don't have much time right now. I just added a new section "References" and put the book inside - is that ok with you? Peter S. 00:46, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Sure - that's fine with me. From the summary I read of the book, it may shed some insight into Aristotle's influence on modern day film. If that's the case, I think some info from it would be appropriate. Whether directly or indirectly, Poetics has influenced script-writing immensely. I believe I might have some other references on the shelf here that go into the subject, so I'll add to that section when I get a chance. Ravenous 02:04, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
Actually, parts of the Poetics are lost, and this book tries to fill in the blanks, and creates a new Poetic theory. It then applies this to Film, TV and novels. I'd be glad to read your additions :-) Peter S. 15:29, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Greek Theatre

Hi, I just read your note on the WikiProject Theatre discussion page. I have been looking over your contributions to Greek Theatre and just wanted to thank you for your work! It is marvelous. I had not even noted your additions to the template page. They are lovely! As I said in my response, I'm working on creating some smaller WikiProjects for specific areas of theatre. My current project is Elizabethan Theatre, but once I finish I think there should be one for Ancient Greek Theatre. I would be interested to have your input and again, thanks for your hard work! *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 22:18, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, glad I could be of some help. I'm looking forward to seeing an Ancient Greek Theatre project. I'll be compiling a list of things I think the play pages need help with. Let me know if you need any other assistance setting up the project. - Ravenous 00:00, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Protagoras

[edit] Help Please

Ancient Greek comedy needs work and I thought it might be right up your alley, I don't have the experience needed to do it myself so if your active, it would be great if you could take a look.
