Rajan and Sajan Mishra

Rajan and Sajan Mishra (Hindi: राजन और साजन मिश्रा) are two brothers, who are noted exponents of the Khayal form of Hindustani classical music singing. They were awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2007 [1][2], Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, jointly in 1998 [3] and the 'Gandharwa National Award' for 1994-1995 [4]
Part of a 300-year old lineage of Khayal singing of the Banaras gharana, the Mishra brothers have been performing to audiences all over Indian and the world for many years [5], and have so far released over 20 music albums in genres ranging from classical Khayal gayaki, to semi-classical 'Tappa' and bhajans [6].

'Rajan and Sajan Mishra' received their musical training from their grandfather, Pt. Bade Ram Das Ji Mishra, and also their father, Pt. Hanuman Prasad Mishra, and from their uncle, sarangi virtuoso, Pt. Gopal Prasad Mishra, and started performing while they were still in their teens [7] [5], their first concert abroad, was in Sri lanka in 1978, and soon they went on to perform in many countries across the world including, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, USA, UK, The Netherlands, USSR, Singapore, Qatar and Muscat.
