I don't know if they are either, but that is the preferred style to out-linking them (See WP:NOT under "Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files"). Rabbi-m, thank you for your comment on my talk page. I had no idea you weren't an experienced Wikipedian by your recent contributions! Regarding the wimpel article, I think IZAK was unfamiliar with the concept and therefore thought it belonged somewhere else. But after fleshing it out, everyone sees that it is a definite stand-alone piece. It's refreshing to know that even after a couple of years and millions of edits, there are still new articles to be written on Wikipedia! The reason I put a general reference on the Aryeh Levin article and not an in-line citation is because practically the whole article is being researched from "A Tzaddik in Our Time." In contrast, the wimpel article includes pieces of information from many different sources, in which case I backed up certain statements with an in-line reference. Maybe I'm wrong (I'm not so into the technical side of Wikipedia as much as the writing side).

to meet wiki standards, I think it shows there was research in putting together an article to keep footnoting, even where all of it comes from a single source. Rabbi-m 05:04, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

BTW, are you familiar with the green "Show Preview" button underneath the Edit Summary (next to the "Save Page" button)? Rather than make a change to the text every few minutes and having it come up as a long list of "Rabbi-m Changes" (see Aryeh Levin - Page History), you can see the page with your changes in progress in "Show preview", and when you're all finished, hit "Save page." It's up to you. Some editors ask that all correspondence (including their answers to comments) be conducted on their talk pages—which means you have to place a "watch" on their talk page to see if they've answered you. I prefer talking to you on your talk page and receiving your answer on mine. However, my last message contains two points, one referring to an article and the other general. I'm going to copy the discussion we're having about the article to the article's talk page. Since I have a "watch" on that article (Aryeh Levin), I'll see your response there and we can talk all we want about sourcing there. You can respond to the general discussion on my talk page.

Believe me, I have also had my bouts with wiki editing quirks. It's a good idea to save everything in the edit box just in case it disappears on you. (If you then paste the whole article back into the edit box, only your changes will show up on the page history.) If you ever have ANY questions about what you're doing, type them in at Wikipedia:Help desk and you'll get a detailed answer within a few days. Yoninah 08:18, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Rabbi-m, There's some discussion about this very issue on the Talk:Asenath Barzani page. When you find yourself with a strong opinion on an issue, there's a good chance others have too, and looking at the Talk page first gives you an opportunity to contribute to an ongoing discussion. In general, suggest putting all explanations for edits and disagreements with content in the Talk page rather than hidden in the main page to enable your thoughts to become part of the collaboration. In our discussion of the issue, we compromised on the phrase "modern scholars", since that phrase is generally a code-word for non-halachic and non-Orthodox claims and opinions by people to whom halachic arguments would irrelevant. If you look at Talk:Asenath Barzani, you'll see that I myself insisted on removing the term "Rabbi" from the title and main body of the article on sourcing grounds. I said:

I honestly don't think the recent official encyclopedia of Kurdistan is a reliable authority on whether or not 17th Century Jewish rabbinical authorities -- her contemporaries -- regarded her as a rabbi. They are neither scholars of Judaism nor religious authorities. We can publish that some people today regard her as a rabbi, but WP should not take this as its own position without a scholarly basis. WP requires reliable sources.

The separate section and "modern scholars" reference was a compromise which resulted from the discussion. --Shirahadasha 16:33, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Har Habayit warning photo

As to the temple mount photo, I took in on a whim going up to the temple mount in July 2005. I really don't know know why it had been pushed over, and I can't read Hebrew. The sign is still up as far as I know, but then again I really would have no clue. Bantosh 04:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
