[edit] Ballymote - Market House?
I see you added a link to the Ballymote page to List of Irish Towns with a Market House. Have you any further information about this house? As I live near Ballymote, I could perhaps add a bit to this page about the house, maybe even photos, Etc. --The.Q | Talk 14:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ballymote Co. Sligo Market House
Hi The.Q See http://cloghmore.bravepages.com/sligo/ballymoteMH.html for photograph. Could you find out when it was built and what its current use is? Any other "facts" would be most interesting. Peter Clarke
(I'm not sure if I'm using this "Discussion" area correctly. -pjc
- Peter, I recognise the building, alright. It's right in the centre of town, at "The Rock" (i.e., the hill-top in the middle of town, opposite the Anglican church). I believe it's being used by the HSE, I think as a day-centre for adults with learning disabilities. I'll try to find out, though over the next few days, and get back to you. --The.Q | Talk 11:40, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- The.Q, Any luck in getting info? Peter Clarke 11:27, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Peter. I checked it out, and I was right. It is part of the South County Sligo Community Mental health Service of the Health Service Executive, and is used as a day-centre. The only reference I could find to it online was just an address and phone number on the HSE NW area contact page, which just mentions The Rock, Ballymote and a phone number. --The.Q | Talk 14:23, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

- Hi The.Q, Well done for that info - I have updated the page accordingly - perhaps you could put a photo of it on the Ballymote page?

[edit] Recent Irish sport edits
Your recent Irish sports edit are unfortunately, mostly, adding external links into the main text instead of in the external links section where they belong. It would be better if you write a short piece about the sports available in the towns and put any appropriate links to any clubs websites in the external links section. This applies to at least Balbriggan, Carlow, Bray and Bantry that are on my watchlist. In the case of Bantry you added redlinks to potential Wikipedia articles that are unlikely to be added, and even if they are, will unlikely be anything more than stubs. I suggest you revert or reedit to the more usual layout for your those similar edits. Hope that helps. Cheers ww2censor 02:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestions. I'll check the pages you mention. Peter Clarke 14:13, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome
Welcome to the Irish Maritime wikiproject!! Wow .... I'm not quite sure what to say as the project only started up last night :-) You got in way early!! Still, feel free to dig in. I've marked a lot of relevant article talk pages. Thanks again! - Alison✍ 00:35, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Province of Munster
You have recently been adding a Province of Munster edit to several articles. For those articles that have an infobox, I consider your addition redundant as that date is in the infobox already. Perhaps you would reconsider these edits because anyone needing to know where a town is does not need to know in the intro that a town is in Munster. Hope you agree. Cheers ww2censor 19:59, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Fair point! - if they have an infobox. Peter Clarke 20:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Like Crookhaven, Bantry, Durrus, Dunmanway and most probably more. I did not go through all your recent edits. But keep on working. Thanks ww2censor 20:06, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Edits to articles on Northern Irish politicians
Hi - please don't add articles to a categories of which they are already in a subcategory, unless there is a compelling reason. Also, I've remove the SDLP logos from the article to which you added them. Following a similar discussion about the DUP logo, it became clear that this is likely to cause copyright problems; we can claim the logo as fair use in the article on the party, but not elsewhere. [edit] Category:Republicanism in the United Kingdom
I see your adding this category to lots of Irish articles, wouldn't it be easier to add this category Category:Irish Republican Movement rather then what your doing to every single article as the majority of them link to this.--padraig 14:12, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Padraig, I don't think so. I am adding the Category to articles relating to 1. Irish Republicans who operate/operated out of Northern Ireland (part of the UK) or Irish Republicans in Ireland in pre-Partition times (also part of the UK). This excludes Irish Republicans who operate/operated out of Southern Ireland/Irish Free State/Republic of Ireland e.g. Bertie Ahern (member of Fianna Fail - (the Republican Party).Peter Clarke 14:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- "Republicanism in the United Kingdom is a movement in the United Kingdom which seeks to remove the British monarchy and replace it with a republic that has a non-hereditary head of state."
- All of the Irish people that you have added seek/sought independence for Ireland and have expressed no opinion whatever on republicanism in the United Kingdom. There is no way any of them belong in this category. Please revert all of them immediately. Scolaire 17:11, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Good point, they are two different issues and not related, I think this category should be removed from these articles.--padraig 17:53, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Not so. Ireland was part of the United Kingdom. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom. So is Scotland, Cornwall, Wales, etc. Republican movements in these areas should be acknowledged. Peter Clarke 07:01, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Peter, look at the top of the category page:
-
The main article for this category is Republicanism in the United Kingdom.
Now look at the top of the article: I have quoted it above. You have not been involved as far as I can see in building the category or the article. There is no consensus for adding these articles to the category. It is a POV notion of yours and makes a nonsense of the category because the reader can no longer find the British republicans (as defined above) among the Irish republicans. Please revert all of them immediately. Scolaire 07:54, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Its not a matter of consensus - its that the use of the category is simply wrong for the additions Peter made to it (for the reasons you stated yesterday, above). Moot point, in any case - the cat has been removed from the Irish-related entries now. BastunBaStun not BaTsun 11:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- It seems to me that the Category is so narrow that no Republicans of any of the celtic parts of the UK could ever be considered - perhaps the Category should be renamed: Republicanism in parts of England that are not Celtic. Peter Clarke 11:08, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- It seems to me that the category is fine as it is. Why don't you just let it go? Scolaire 15:53, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Commons
Hi Peter. You've taken and uploaded some great photos. Have you ever considered creating a user account on Wikimedia commons however? And releasing your photos there? (In that way, they'd be available on the English Wikipedia project, and all other projects also...) Guliolopez (talk) 13:43, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll check into it. PeterClarke 13:46, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have started using Commons - it works very well with Wikipedia - thanks for the advice. Is there a painless way of moving images from Wikipedia to Commons? PeterClarke 09:47, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Life in Ireland template
Hi, you added a comment on the Life in Ireland template talk page saying it is not working. Can you expand on that, please? What exactly is wrong and what articles are affected? Tx, Snappy56 (talk) 11:22, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image Cats
I'm not sure where it is stated that images should really be in categories with image in the titles. However it is better if all images are in commons where they can be accessed from all of the projects. In commons they have a much better structure for categorizing images.
