M-x all-hail-emacs -- CYD
I moved Morten Frost from Danish Sportspeople to Badminton Players. While I agree with your argument of precedent, I still think that Danish Sportspeople ought to include everyone and not just those who don't fit in a sub-category. Men måske syntes du ikke ligeså. --SVTCobra 02:09, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
Hejsa :)
? Poulsen 17:11, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Danes
Hi Per. You seem to be unhappy with the reference to foreigners describing Danes as a tribe. One of the first persons to use the phrase was the (former) British ambassador to Denmark, Sir James Mellon who described similarities between Danes and a tribe he had encountered in Ghana. See e.g. the description in - Knud V. Jespersen: A History of Denmark, p. 5-7: "Sir James Mellon and the Danish Tribe" (quoting from Sir James Mellon's book "About old Denmark. A Description of Denmark in the Year of our Lord 1992". The Danish title is "Og Gamle Danmark".) I believe that E. Prakash Reddy ("Danes are like that") drew a similar conclusion.
I've personally heard several of my foreign professors describe Denmark in similar terms. An example of a Danish article with the same perspective is found in "HK's magasin Delta", no. 3, 2002): [1].) Regarding the issue about "New-Danes", well, a similar reference is made in the article about Swedes and I believe that it is relevant at least to note that Denmark is composed of several ethnic groups - if for no other reason that to avoid people constantly changeing the number of Danes in the table from 5.0 mill. to 5.4 mill. or whatever. In my mind, the table should only include ethnic Danes, i.e. closer to the 5.0 mill. mark than the 5.4 mill mark. It might even be relevant to make a note that the Danish term "etniske danskere" can mean the exacly opposite of "ethnic Danes".
On a completely different note; I don't like the portrait of Hans Christian Andersen. It should be changed to a gallery of important Danes, but it looks like you're already working on that. Regards. --Valentinian 00:44, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- What I objected to was the claim that is was describes as common among foreigners, despite never hearing the claim from a foreigner (and having lived abroad for some years). I have heard it from Danes though. You are welcome to put the "Danes as a tribe" with proper reference. Except there should also be an explicit point of putting that factoid in. What is the difference between a "nation" as the text use the word, and a "tribe"? The Danish word "folk" (literally "people") was translated to "nation" (which can be defended in the context), and then used as proff we are a "tribe". It is very confusing what that text was trying to accomplish.
- The "new Danes" text was in a political section, but did not contain any explicit information about the political context of the term. It contained some questionable claims and terms that are often used in a political context, but that is worse than useless in that context, hence the removal.
- Information about the demographics of Denmark belong to a demographic section, not a political section, and should be explicit, not allured to through linguistic changes.

--Valentinian 11:39, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Free Software Celebrities according to Google
Hej Per!
I found your "Hall of Fame" quite amusing :)
Currently I only get:
- Results 1 - 10 of about 13,400 for "Jens M Andreasen". (0.13 seconds)
Does that mean you could put me on the list of people "who did not make it?"
Please? :))) MX44 15:37, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Guild Wars
Maybe I worded it wrong. However, the fact remains that one of the features of Guild Wars is that each party gets its own PvE world to play in; Yahoo's review is misleading, stating that only being able to meet players in town is a negative aspect. If, for example, I am looking for a game to play, and I read the article page for Nightfall. Upon reading that I can't meet players outside of town, I may decide not to get the game, when it is in fact a feature.
Maybe what I tried to point out could be reworded better? --HayashiKun 23:49, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- In many other games, perhaps whether it is or isn't a feature would be subjective. However, it is stated on their own website that this is, in fact, a feature of the game, one aspect that they are trying to market and sell the game with. They are, in fact, marketing that because one can't meet other players outside of town, things such as kill-stealing and spawn-camping are non-existant. This is a feature for Guild Wars. Yahoo didn't seem to grasp that concept, and so made the comment that the system was "rudimentary" when it was in fact meant to be that way. Do you see what I'm saying? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HayashiKun (talk • contribs) 05:49, 25 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Regarding the guild wars template
Sorry to step on your toes here, but there is strong opposition to including the newly announced guild wars games to this template, as you can see in the talk page. I myself am neutral on the issue, but Barek (talk · contribs) and A Man In Black (talk · contribs) have reverted these additions out multiple times. I think it is better to leave the template in its least controversial form until the dispute is settled. — Kaustuv Chaudhuri 13:27, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] UCI Protour teams template
Hey Per,
I've started on a 2008 UCI ProTour teams template on my sandbox. Add in anything that you know of already. I'm making the name changes, but I've got to do the Europe Tour, America, Oceania etc tags too, so if you see them floating around can you add them in? Thanks. kju (talk) 14:20, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
