Patterson Lakes is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is in the Local Government Area of the City of Kingston.
It is approximately 35 km south-east of the Melbourne central business district.
It is comprised predominantly of new, upper middle-class homes. Some houses pricing up to $3 million.[citation needed]
The Patterson River Country Club (golf) is on the northern side where the housing is more recently developed and there are no ‘lakes’.[citation needed]
The Patterson River is a popular portal for Port Phillip Bay with four public launching ramps, marinas, boat storage and moorings for leisure craft.[citation needed]

The suburb was created from a wetland area mainly during the 1980s when the mostly man-made Patterson River was dredged to drain the former Carrum Swamp. The southern side of the river is characterised by a system of lakes and canals providing properties with a water frontage and the possibility of a boat mooring.

Patterson Lakes is serviced by a small shopping centre, including a Safeway supermarket and a new shopping centre called The Glade.
Access to the area by car is generally from either the Nepean Highway or the Mornington Peninsula Freeway.

Patterson Lakes Primary School is the government public school operated in Patterson Lakes Patterson River Secondary College is the government secondary school operated just outside of Patterson Lakes, close to Seaford.

Patterson Lakes is serviced by the Carrum railway station on the Frankston line operated by Connex Melebourne.
Bus services around Patterson Lakes are operated by Grenda's Bus Services and Moorabbin Transit.
Trams do not operate around this area of Melbourne.

The filming at Kath Day-Knight and Kel Knight's "townhouse" (in the fictional suburb of Fountain Lakes), in the Australian comedy television series Kath & Kim, is shot in Patterson Lakes.
John Howard, when Prime Minister of Australia, visited Patterson Lakes Primary School to speak on their new radio station, as did Bert Newton, a Channel Nine television personality.
