[edit] Counties, townships and towns
Like a hobbit, I enjoy maps, and have also found the set of articles on Indiana towns, townships, and counties to be appealing projects. I also contribute to some of the Illinois articles. I created most of the Indiana township articles and produced a locator map for each; I am currently doing the same for Iowa and Missouri townships, and am creating maps for the Illinois and Kansas townships. I am willing to create other such maps if the need arises; this can be often done on a semi-automated basis using custom-written scripts and freely-available mapping data.

When it comes to small towns, old atlases and newspapers on microfilm are wonderful resources. It's interesting how people in the 1870s in the midwest used the same language we do now, naturally, and yet once in a while it's difficult to know what they were talking about when reading old newspaper articles; Frames of reference have shifted over the years. Below are a few of the maps I've scanned from an 1877 atlas, which I find rather fascinating.

In order to help provide better in-article descriptions of Indiana state roads, I have begun creating maps for the articles using MapScript.

[edit] Photography
I've been taking photos of towns and other points of interest in Vermilion County, Illinois for use in articles. Currently I am waiting for spring to arrive so I can get some more photos taken.
[edit] Cemeteries
Based on local data (when it is available to me) and USGS data, I'm including lists of cemeteries in township articles as I create them, and will be adding these lists to the township articles I've already created for Indiana.
[edit] Martial arts
As a long-time practitioner of Tae Kwon Do and a student of the Korean language, I feel I can contribute to these articles in some small way.
[edit] Copy editing
I always keep an eye out for vandalism, and for spelling and grammar corrections that need to be made. Perhaps my profound proclivity for pedantry will produce positive payoffs and provide pleasure for parties partial to precision.
