Olubanke King Akerele is a Liberian politician and diplomat. In October 2007, as part of a cabinet reshuffle, Akerele was sworn in as the foreign minister by the President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. She replaced veteran diplomat George Wallace.
Mrs. Akerele peviously served in Mrs. Sirleaf's cabinet as Minister of Commerce and Industry. Prior to that, she spent a twenty year career with the United Nations. She is the granddaughter of Liberia's 16th president, Charles Dunbar Burgess King.
