Encouraged by the over whelming response from parents and students from all over the country and abroad to the quality education imparted at Nitte, Sri Vinay Hegde son of founder Justice K.S.Hegde started another engineering college, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology at Yelahanka in Bangalore. Established in the year 2001, the college offers Four Year Graduate Programmes in Engineering leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) of the V.T.U , Belgaum.The college is among 4 institutions in bangalore to be granted autonomous status under V.T.U in the year 2007.The institution is under the able guidance of a well known academician Prof. N.R. Shetty who was former Vice-chancellor of Banglore University and aided by a dedicated team of highly qualified and esperienced staff. The Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology has met immediate recognition and success. The institute is controlled by Prof. H C Nagaraj who is an IIT alumni and has more than 2 decades of Technical Experience.
The campus is situated in a sprawling 23 acre land in the calm sylvan environs of Govindapura, Gollahalli village about 20 km from Banglore city railway/Bus stations.(About 6 km from Yelahanka Police Station Circle and 3 km from off the Bangalore Devanahalli National Highway 7). The outdoor and indoor games facilities are available. The football, cricket fields, Basket Ball and Volley Ball courts are available inside the campus. The college hosted SRCA Cricket Tournament in the month of October 2004. The annual Inter-collegiate Volleyball Tournament was held in the month of December 2004. The Annual College Sports meet was held in the month of June 2005. Students from the college have participated in different University level sports meet. Indoor games like Table-Tennis, Carom and Chess are encouraged. no encouragement for sports
