[edit] MyHeartWillGoOnSample.ogg

Exactly 30 seconds. --hottie 12:55, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. Also, which part of the song is it? The beginning, middle, or toward the end? Never Mystic 20:48, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Um, I don't know, try to listen to the sample. --hottie 14:30, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I'll listen to it then. Thanks! Never Mystic 23:58, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anne Hathaway

In the Anne Hathaway article you are not following wikipedia rules on consensus. You have been outvoted by everyone else editing the article, yet you persist in your strange quest to ban the word gay from her page. I will request from an admin that you be banned from editing her page unless you (1)Make your case in the discussion page and succeed in changing the consensus or (2) Stop your pointless edit war.

I have interviewed her for a major magazine, and she is not only explicitly pro-gay, but she also uses the word gay over and over. Get over it. Aroundthewayboy 08:37, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Could you please explain what you're talking about a little clearer? I don't see any sort of consensus on the talk page; what do you mean that I'm "persisting" in changing the word gay to homosexual? I've never done this before. I reverted your edits because you wrote in your edit summary that an automatic bot malfunctioned, which was very likely not the case. What edit war are you talking about? I am not edit-warring on her page; what "strange quest" are you referring to? And how do I know that you've interviewed Hathaway before? You need to be less vague and more concise. Never Mystic 15:23, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I mixed you up with someone else who IS doing an edit war. My bad. Aroundthewayboy 00:54, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Apology accepted. Remember, I only reverted you because it's uncommon for an automated bot to reintroduce errors into and article. I don't mind if it says gay, because it seems as appropriate as homosexual. If you really have interviewed Hathaway, are there any other notable points that could be added to her article? Never Mystic 21:08, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
From skimming through Hathaway's entry's history, there really is someone who's obsessed with removing the word gay from the entry. It's a very strange and pointless obsession, IMO.
I will check my old interview for encyclopedia-worthy stuff, but we mostly focused on Brokeback Mountain, since I conducted it just before the movie came out. But thanks for the suggestion.
And btw, I am *not* obsessed with her, I just randomly checked her entry heh.Aroundthewayboy 06:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
To answer your question: because I want to keep my WP identity anonymous. I don't want to say where it was published, but I interviewed her late last year, and yes she was lovely. Very engaging and smart. We talked a lot about books, although that didn't make it into the published piece. But she's one of the more charming actresses I've interviewed. Aroundthewayboy 21:49, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
It sounds like you had a splendid time with her. Did she have favourite books? Perhaps this can material can be added to the article. Never Mystic (tc) 21:57, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jake Gyllenhaal

Thank you for your offer of help. If you could go through the article and rewrite "clunky" phrases and sentences, I would be grateful. A lot of people have criticised the article for this, but I have no idea what they are talking about. Dev920 07:05, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

You see, when they refer to the writing as "clunky", this means that what you're trying to say isn't being interpreted correctly or is rather awkward. At this time the FAC is not going well, but if you use the suggestions and fix the article's weaknesses, a later FAC will likely be successful. I'll help with the writing with time (Jake's one of my favourite actors too)! Never Mystic (tc) 22:00, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
You say not going well, but there are two supports, and three opposes: one from a guy who never wrote back after his issue was addressed (and who I have contacted), one from someone who wants critical commentary (and will get it) and one from you. Do you not think it possible to turn this around and achieve consensus? Dev920 06:37, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
The first guy, Tutmosis, has now offered his support, which now means there is a majority of support for the FAC. I have contacted the second guy now I have added critical commentary, but he has yet to reply. Which just leaves you. I think virtually every concern that you raised previously has now been dealt with: would you mind reviewing your vote? Dev920 19:12, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
I'd like to support, but the writing is still choppy and vague in some areas. Never Mystic (tc) 18:39, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Given the way the article has now been chopped about, I'll don't think it'll need it. If Raul hadn't closed it, it would have passed last time anyway. Dev920 23:57, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Don't be discouraged. It will pass eventually. =) Never Mystic (tc) 19:37, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't doubt that. I just think it should have passed the last time round.
The guys seems to have finished rearranging the article. Shall I renominate now? Dev920 19:57, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm still somewhat unfamiliar with the FAC process, so I'm uncertain whether you should nominate it now or at a later date. Perhaps you could ask the FAC director, Raul654? Never Mystic (tc) 19:59, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Can't say Raul is being terribly responsive to me right now. Dev920 20:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I suppose it's your choice if he's failing to respond. Never Mystic (tc) 20:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I've renominated. Would you mind offering your support?Dev920 10:57, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
There seems to be a dispute over the renomination. Like I said before, I'm not entirely familiar with the FAC format, so I'm going to abstain from supporting until the issues are resolved. Never Mystic (tc) 20:39, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IMDB

Are you talking about past release dates or future ones? The problem with almost any piece of info on the IMDB is that any person can submit it and no one, usually, checks up on it. The IMDB is exactly like Wikipedia - except A. harder to correct, B. doesn't state its sources (and has no sources that we don't have). For past, they make a ton of errors, and for future release dates, anyone can also submit anything they like. Good first-hand sites for release dates are usually box office sites like http://www.boxofficemojo.com (for past dates). For future dates, nothing beats http://www.comingsoon.net (see "Movie Release Dates" at the bottom of that page). Mad Jack 23:54, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

That's what I was looking for. Thanks! Never Mystic (tc) 23:56, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ugly Betty

Hi Never Mystic. You asked if I knew what the premise is for Ugly Betty. I confess that I've only seen the Russian version, but I'm assuming that the premise is the same, i.e. ugly but smart girl goes to work in the fashion industry, falls in love with her boss, gets treated badly by attractive but nasty co-workers, etc. etc. Are you watching the American version? -- Hux 10:27, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm watching the American version of the show, which premiered last week. (She falls in love with him? I think you spoiled that for me. =|) It's quite interesting thus far, but seems to be somewhat clichéd, if you asked me. Never Mystic (tc) 02:04, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anne Hathaway Good Article status

I'm not sure, to be honest. I've only just begun dabbling in that myself. I think it's when someone familiar with that strand of articles happens to be patrolling the page. Probably a week, I guess... but, hey... the world's not going to end if it's a bit longer (I know how it feels waiting for an article you've put loads of work in to be assesed, tho') The JPStalk to me 20:52, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

When someone like me, who's been editing Wikipedia for about a month, nominates an article to attain a specific status, I find it irritating to have to wait. At least now I know that the work takes time, so thanks! I'll be posting this on my talk page too (to retain the flow of the discussion). Never Mystic (tc) 23:05, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ms. Hathaway

Well, how do you think I could help? I'm willing to fulfill any particular requests, so to speak. I'm better working when I know exactly what I need to be doing. Mad Jack 06:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! I always appreciate the assistance of others. Would you be able to expand the personal life section? You did a great job on Mandy Moore and I believe with some time, Ms. Hathaway will be propelled to her standard. Never Mystic (tc) 20:06, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Hmm.... I'm browsing through interviews but there's not that much.... it seems she has never really dated anyone famous, so we can't have that massive paragraph on her celebrity relationships like I did with Moore... :-) But I guess I'll see what more I can find Mad Jack 17:10, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! Yeah, Hathaway hasn't been known for high-profile relationships (which is a good thing, if you ask me). Perhaps two paragraphs would be a proper minimum, but it depends on what information we come up with. I've done some research too but not much has come up on my end either. Never Mystic (tc) 23:22, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jake FAC renom.

The issue with the FAC is that a renom after three days is "bad form". As an adherent to WP:IAR I disagree with that, as an FAC that fails with 66% support is unjust and justifies bending other rules. DaveOinSF has moved on to editing other articles, and has not replied to my message about the FAC. As his issues now cannot be resolved, would you care to take a look at the article and determine if the writing has been cleaned up enough by him to vote? Dev920 (Tory?) 07:26, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I've never heard of WP:IAR before, but since Jimbo Wales cites it as policy, I'll overlook the writing and perhaps comment out (<!-- -->) parts that require improvement. I'm working on an actor's article too! Never Mystic (tc) 15:01, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, that's cool, but what exactly is actually wrong with the writing? I've been through it, Dave's been through it, what's wrong with it? Dev920 (Tory?) 15:08, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
It's somewhat inconsistent in places and sometimes causal rather than professional. Never Mystic (tc) 15:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
It means he grew up and matured. Donnie Darko was his first major success. Change the heading if you don't think it fits, I didn't put it there. :) Dev920 (Tory?) 04:25, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Some of the headers are irritating, along with the text. I'm going ahead and copy-editing all the unusual portions. Remember that I'll be adding "comment out"'s. Never Mystic (tc) 15:49, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My next plans

I'm currently working on several projects part-time while I wait for somethinhg to get really enthusiastic about: I've submitted Islam and Bereshit to peer review, I'm slowly building up Andrew Van de Kamp and Latter Days for an eventual FA nom, and I'm busily trying to convert several Lists to tables in preparation for an FL nom. But no big overriding project yet. I'm just waiting for inspiration to strike. What about yourself? Dev920 (Tory?) 20:19, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Currently, I'm rewriting Anne Hathaway (actress) so that it can reach FA status and perhaps at a later date The Princess Diaries (film). I'm a photographer, so it would be nice to see something done with Principal photography too. Good luck to you! If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Never Mystic (tc) 20:56, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
I will bear that in mind. :) Dev920 (check out this proposal) 21:00, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Critical reviews

Any particular reason why? Dev920 (check out this proposal) 18:43, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

I want to see if there're any useful reviews for Anne Hathaway that I could include in her article. Never Mystic (tc) 20:15, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, I'm not sure if critical reviews of Jake could help you there. I burned out on BBM shortly after it didn't win the Oscar - so I didn't use many things related to it. But what I found oodles for the article from were:

All not terrible helpful for Hathwaway, I think. When I was looking for general stuff on Jake, I googled him and simply went through ten pages of links for info, only spcialising when I knew something about him and needed a cite(like when I knew he had been in the Arctic from seeing it on an Ellen interview, I googled Jake and Arctic). I don't know if you do this, but it might be useful.

Would you like any help with her article, or would you like to work on it yourself? Dev920 (check out this proposal) 20:37, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Your help would be fantastic, of course! Thank you for the links. If you think any of the writing is somewhat odd, go ahead and change it. If you're unsure of what to do, comment it out and I'll try to rearrange it accordingly. Again, thanks! You're a very nice person. Never Mystic (tc) 20:39, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

I try. ;D I'm supposed to be writing an essay right now, so I'll start making edits tomorrow or next week probably. Dev920 (check out this proposal) 20:54, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Okay! Good luck with your work. Never Mystic (tc) 20:56, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Rachel McAdams in Wedding Crashers.jpg

I'm confused as to why you added the {{Replaceable fair use}} tag to the image in question. Many featured articles on actors use a screenshot from a well-known film that they have appeared in; why should this be any different for Rachel McAdams? Also, as stated in the fair use rationale: "No free or public domain images have been located for this actress..." and therefore, this image's use appears appropriate. If you have other issues with the rationale and/or something else, leave me a message on my talk page or the image's talk page. Thanks. Never Mystic (tc) 19:42, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Never Mystic. A lot of celebrities articles use unfree images based on a wrong interpretation of Wikipedia's fair use criteria, but the fair use guidelines were recently clarified to better reflect Jimbo's stance on this matter. Now, according to Wikipedia:Fair use, unfree images should only be used when they are unrepeatable images, like pictures of historic events, unaccessible places, people whose whereabouts are unknown, etc. Celebrity articles should use a free image to illustrate the person or no image at all.
The {{Replaceable fair use}} template is a very new one and it's was created exactly for such cases, where an unfree image was uploaded in good faith to be used to illustrate the look of some person. Such images are going to be deleted. There's a lot of work to be done, and any help is welcome. Best regards, --Abu Badali 20:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Because I don't where an unfree image is, I can't replace the one currently at Rachel McAdams. Never Mystic (tc) 21:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
I understand. That article may have to go without an image for some time, until someone come up with a free image. :( --Abu Badali 21:24, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Left?

You gone? I note you haven't edited since the 21st. You giving up on Hathaway? I gave it a copyedit the other day and I think it's very close to FA. Dev920 (check out this proposal) 23:24, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I've been far too busy lately. You have no idea. I'll get back to editing that article, but I won't be entirely free until Christmas. Never Mystic (tc) 01:03, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok, cool. Didn't want to think you'd gone forever. :)

Done. Hope you like. Welcome back. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 16:58, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. Never Mystic (tc) 17:00, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Anytime. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 17:04, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Anne Hathaway - The Devil Wears Prada.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Anne Hathaway - The Devil Wears Prada.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 00:12, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ella Enchanted original theatrical poster.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ella Enchanted original theatrical poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:28, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
