Nasrullah (1940-1959) was a British thoroughbred racehorse, and sire of 15 champions.
Bred and owned by the Aga Khan III in the United Kingdom, Nasrullah was a good, but temperamental horse. Out of the 10 starts, he won 5 races; Great Bradley Stakes, Coventry Stakes, Chatteris Stakes, Caversham Stakes, Champion Stakes. Additionally, he finished second on the Middle Park Stakes, and third on the Wilburton Stakes and New Derby Stakes. Besides being temperamental, Nasrullah was also known for being lazy and sometimes unpredictable, and trainers had a hard job motivating the horse during morning works.
In 1950, Nasrullah was sent to stand at stud in the United States at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky. A three-quarters brother to the important sire Royal Charger, Nasrullah became one of the most important sires of the 20th century, leading the sire list five times. Among his sons are Bald Eagle, Jaipur, Red God, and U.S. Hall of Fame horses Bold Ruler, Noor and Nashua. Nasrullah is also a grandsire to Secretariat and Ruffian. His influence continues to the present day, as another of his tail-male descendants is Invasor.
Nasrullah died on May 26th, 1959. He is buried at Claiborne Farm.
