[edit] History

Clipper Point was launched in 2006, and christened on the 7 October. She is the first of five new ships for Seatruck. Her speed of 22 knots (41 km/h) will enable crossing times between Heysham and Warrenpoint to be reduced to six hours. Older ships like the Riverdance and Moondance take nine and a half hours to do the same journey.[2]

[edit] Description

Clipper Point is designed around the need to fit into Heysham harbour. She has three decks for carrying vehicles, with a headroom sufficient to enable the carriage of taller trailers.[3] The vessel's size has been described as "Heysham Max" - i.e. the maximum size that can be accommodated at Heysham.[4]
