Moreton Bay Pile Light

The Moreton Bay Pile Light was a pile lighthouse in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia which marked the entrance to the port of Brisbane.
The light was used to guide ships into the Brisbane River and became operational in 1882 when Heath's channel was dredged. The pile light replaced the 40 year old lightship Rose, which was not suitable to be used at the exposed end of the new channel.[1]
It was occupied by lightkeepers and resembled a small house structure with steel supports.
The pile light was destroyed on 17 October 1949 when it was rammed by the tanker Wave Protector.[2] The framework remained until 1973.
