Mollugo verticillata (carpetweed) is a spreading annual plant from tropical America. In eastern North America, it is a common invasive weed growing in disturbed areas. In early spring the seedlings sprout and quickly come into flower. The foliage is narrow and in whorls. The flowers are tiny, white, and quickly go to seed.
