Millbrook is a village in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 1,429 at the 2000 census. It is considered one of the wealthiest towns in the State of New York and is often thought of as a rural and more low-key version of The Hamptons. The main street, Franklin Avenue, is home to many of the village's main eateries, stores, and landmarks, including the public library. The Village of Millbrook is near the center of the Town of Washington. US Route 44 passes through the village.

(41.787125, -73.692246)According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.9 square miles (5.0 km²), of which, 1.9 square miles (4.8 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (2.60%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,429 people, 678 households, and 360 families residing in the village. The population density was 764.3 people per square mile (295.0/km²). There were 744 housing units at an average density of 397.9/sq mi (153.6/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.87% White, 2.66% African American, 0.21% Asian, 0.28% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.01% of the population.
There were 678 households out of which 23.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.6% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.8% were non-families. 40.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.10 and the average family size was 2.88.
In the village the population was spread out with 21.0% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 26.7% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 85.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.4 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $41,552, and the median income for a family was $65,417. Males had a median income of $47,917 versus $31,111 for females. The per capita income for the village was $29,114. About 2.5% of families and 5.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.4% of those under age 18 and 3.9% of those age 65 or over.

Singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright wrote a song about the boarding school that he attended located near the town (entitled "Millbrook"). The song is on his eponymous first album, released in 1998.
