Michael "Mike" Elizondo is a well-known bassist, keyboardist, and hip hop music producer. He is especially known for his collaborations with internationally successful producer Dr. Dre and rapper Eminem. He has played the bass for many of Dr. Dre's productions and has co-written some of Eminem's songs, including the hit single "The Real Slim Shady"; he co-produced several songs on Encore with Dr. Dre, and co-produced 50 Cent's hit single "In da Club" with Dr. Dre as well. Aside from hip hop, Elizondo has worked with singer-songwriter Fiona Apple, producing her most recent album Extraordinary Machine. He has also recently been involved in album tracks for artists such as Nelly Furtado & P!nk. He writes songs and plays the bass, guitar, and keyboards himself. With three other high-profile musicians, Elizondo is part of the experimental rock group Strip Search.
Mike Elizondo contributed to 50 Cent's album The Massacre and has worked with fellow producer Scott Storch on many of Dr. Dre's projects.
Elizondo produced the song "Wunderkind" with Maverick artist Alanis Morissette. The song appeared on the soundtrack to the holiday film-version of The Chronicles of Narnia and was nomineed for a Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Song. He was set to be in the studio with Morissette as co-producer on Alanis' forthcoming 5th studio album, the follow up to her 2004 record So-Called Chaos, until she announced her hiatus. She is now working with Guy Sigsworth. He recently produced a song called "Daddy Was A Doctor" with Dr. Dre for Dr. Dre's son Hood Surgeon.
Most recently, he produced several tracks on Maroon 5's It Won't Be Soon Before Long, Natasha Bedingfield's N.B., Rilo Kiley's Under the Blacklight and American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis's debut album A.D.D. (Audio Day Dream).
He has also been working with Brenda Radney on 2007's My Grammy Moment. Brenda is signed to Justin Timberlake's label Tennman Records. Mike is also working with Jesse Collins on her album (Atlantic Records). Mike is also producing a new group from Seattle, WA called Danger Radio (Photo Finish Records). They are recording the groups debut album in early 2008.
Mike resides with his wife and 3 daughters in Westlake Village, CA. He has recently been on the cover of BASS PLAYER magazine alongside Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden. Mike was nominated for Producer of the Year at the 2008 Grammy Awards alongside Mark Ronson and Timbaland.
