Mickael "Mick" Gorden Thomson born on November 3, 1973) is the lead guitarist for the nine-piece band Slipknot. Thomson is known as member #7 in the band.[1]

Before Slipknot, Thomson was in the band Bodypit with former Slipknot members Anders Colsefini, Donnie Steele and current bassist Paul Gray.
Mick is number 7 in Slipknot and puts the number on many of his things. He had the word ‘seven’ tattooed on his left arm. He has the number ‘7’ in the truss rod cover of his B.C. Rich Warlock guitar and the word “SEVEN” in the inlay of his Ibanez MTM-1 guitar. He also has the word "seven" on the truss rod cover on the Ibanez MTM-2 guitar. He also has an inverted cross tattoo on his upper back.
He uses alternate picking and drop tuning as his own guitar technique. In the album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) Mick and Jim have finally added guitar solos in the album, unlike the previous 2 albums, because Slipknot’s producer Ross Robinson thinks that adding guitar solos is not suitable for their music.[2]
Despite common belief, Mick's last name is spelled "Thomson", not "Thompson."
Up until 2008 Mick has used EMG Active Pickups (81, 60) but as of 2008 he now uses Seymour Duncan Blackouts Active Humbuckers.
