Melendez Films (originally Bill Melendez Productions London) was started in 1969 by Steven C. Melendez, the son of famed ex-Disney animator Bill Melendez. The studio produced the ambitious animated feature film Dick Deadeye, based on the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan. In 1977 the company produced a two hour television special based on the C.S. Lewis classic book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and the film subsequently won two Emmy Awards for "best animated film" and "script adaptation". Along with the features Melendez Films has produced many series for television including among others "Peanuts", "Fred Basset" and "The Perishers". These also include the educational shorts ‘Happily Ever After’ and ‘Two Daddies To Love Me’ for PBS. The company continues to create commercials for France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Greece and Sweden as well as the U.K. and U.S.A. working for clients such as Scandinavian Airways, Schick, British Rail, Colgate, Ferrero, the British Government and many others.
