Mariska (real name Anna Maria Rahikainen, born February 19, 1979, Helsinki) is a Finnish rapper. She writes her songs by herself, and the lyrics often deal with relationships, feminism and politics.
[edit] Biography
Mariska began to play piano in Sibelius-Akatemia at the age of 7. She soon changed her style to punk and joined a punk-band called Oheisvasara. Mariska moved to London in 1998 to learn Latin and old Greek in university.
Mariska's English friends produced her a demo song called "Tee ze" (Do It). She returned to Finland in 2002 and her first album "Tarkasta tämä" (Check This Out) was released the same year. Mariska's second album, "Memento Mori", was released in 2004.
In 2005 Mariska released her new single, "Keinu" (Swing). Her third album, "Suden hetki" (Moment Of The Wolf) was released in August 2005.
In 2007 Mariska featured Antti Tuisku in YleX Kesäkumi ('Summer Rubber') campaign song "Hyppää kyytiin". The campaign is an annual Finnish health education campaign aimed at prevention of sexually transmitted diseases in youth.
